So true and it’s also a way to take a stab at American women. In my twenties, I had a neighbor who was in his 60’s, white male. He lived in the house next door with another man. He used to always talk to me bc he was always outside with motorcycles and beer. He would invite me for beer but I always kept it polite with small talk and no to hanging out and drinking. My black mom would lose her mind! Anyways, a woman started visiting and I wasn’t living at home at this time, but came by and had small talk about the neighborhood- he must have mentioned his “ Filipina girlfriend” this and that at least 5xs in the span of 5 minutes. In my experience with my narcissistic stepdad(former) the only reason I could figure that my mom got to keep having a job is so that he could spend money beyond what he made(yes he paid bills and such, but it was the minimum that he could get away with and then he’d take money from my mom via manipulation/corrosion so he could spend money on himself that should have gone towards food, or other needs. This man views having a job/income with a means of escaping him so he will NEVER let her have a job/personal income thus making him 100% financially dependent on him. Many years ago when I was 19 I started dating a man in his 30s. It had a friend who was also dating a much older man so I didn’t see anything wrong with it. A few years in and I recall her sitting on my couch crying telling me that being with an older man is the worst thing ever because at a certain point they lose thier minds and become crazy insecure and jealous. She had been with that man since she was like 16. Had 2 kids and everything. But once she his her 20s he lost all his marbles. Mine did the same. I married a man 12 years my senior and by the time I was. 23 he was literally smelling me every time I came home and accused me of everything under the sun. It’s not even just passport bros that are unlikable, it’s most men. I split from my ex in 2022 for a number of reasons I won’t get into here but his attitude was definitely a huge part of it. The funny part is that buddy forgot just how deeply unlikable of a person he is. Literally made plans with a woman who lived 2 hours away (even though he supposed to be a big name in our city lol) and when he facetimed her before he took the drive, she was chilling with another dude in his car already. You're not wrong, but you're missing the point. Controlling men tend to target much younger women because it's usually easier to control them due to the power imbalance, and the younger woman's lack of experience. That's why age gap relationships are a red flag. Since I'm not interested in arguing what I didn't say: this doesn't mean all age gap relationships are problematic. It is the case more often than not though.

I’d say this is one of the very reasons why feminism exists, for the women that are unsure of how to speak up for themselves or that are afraid/at risk should they say anything for themselves and what’s in their best interests/best interests of their child(ren). My grandmother was marrying once before she met my grandfather. She had a son from that relationship. She was LUCKY to be granted a divorce(it was the late 50s), but her first husband tried to k*ll her so the judge saw no reason not to grant the divorce. My Nana and uncle were free of him at last and came to Cali and met my grandpa, settled down and had my mom in the late sixties. If it wasn’t for the ladies that fought for women’s rights back then and those that fight still today this situation could easily get so much worse much faster.

That poor woman and child(ren), what he’s doing to them isn’t just emotional abuse and manipulation but he’s also got financial abuse on top of it. He DELIBERATELY separated her from ALL her connections(family and friends except he likely didn’t expect her and his ex to get along so well), and here’s the thing he KNOWS he’s a Narcissist and that what he does is wrong(if he knows he’s a narcissist he was diagnosed and was likely informed as to what he can do to improve and has ignored the advice; much like my former stepdad). He simply doesn’t care, if someone isn’t going to serve him via narcissistic supply(it takes many forms) then he’ll do his best to paint himself as the victim(because in his delusional self centric mind he IS the victim), and the person(people) looking to no longer be under his control as being the bad guy( I know this as a survivor of narcissistic abuse…my former stepdad did some of these things and many others too).
