In part 5 of my AM 2-pin crystal transmitter series, I add much needed amplification stages to the original design. This brings the transmitting range up significantly.

God! I love Sony multi-band receivers. Classic! Pure classic! 150 feet is quite the range, sir. Congrats! Try using 2N3553 with T-50-2 toroid wound with AWG 22 wire. With this transistor providing 7 Watts of power, you'll be covering more than a few kilometres. The type of oscillator you have employed my dear sir, is called Pierce Oscillator not Colpitts Oscillator. O and 2N3553 is TO-39 package so don't forget to use circular aluminum heat sink or it'll be a toast in a few seconds.

The FM TX is simpler than AM TX. You use forced oscillations in that while here you need a local oscillator and a mixer which can complicate things!
