2 police officers, 1 firefighter hurt in garbage truck explosion in Arlington Heights

I’m out of Florence SC 15 year from today someone placed charcoal that wasn’t fully out in the garbage can before I dumped it and my truck was smoking going down the road . I closed the top to keep air off it ,drove a half mile too an empty lot immediately, and dumped it out the back . Thank GOD for his shield 🙏

The propane tank was the truck’s fuel tank, and the garbage caught fire first,most likely from a discarded lithium ion battery (that’s why they say “Do not dispose” on them.

It definitely wouldn't be a helium tank. A helium tank most likely would never be discarded until empty, and all you'd get is a loud pop.

@@boataxe4605 It blew straight up, so it wouldn't be the truck's fuel tank. It would've been a tank in the compactor compartment.

there is another video of the explosion that shows the area already taped off. i think the driver had noticed the fire and called 911 before leaving the truck. i dont think the truck just exploded with no warning

Exactly. There also seems to be a rash of garage fires the past few years. Could it be EV related? We may never know because it would hurt their plan of 15 minute cities und eat ze bugs for all.

There's ZERO evidence that it was from batteries. It could've been, but it could've been from a leaking propane tank too.

@@fratzogmopars even a pair of triple A batteries could set a garbage truck on fire so it really doesn’t matter what it came from. Batteries don’t belong in garbage trucks

This was the fire department's fault. These tanks have special plugs so that they fail in a controlled manner during a fire. You absolutely DO NOT put water on the tanks so that the plugs can pop, and that is exactly what another video shows the fire department doing.

Lithium ion batteries explode like this when they are larger. The man saying it was like waves of a nuclear blast makes me think lithium bc that would be multiple cells exploding in succession. It also appears to be offgassing

@@lisastork81 omg you all are dense.....read the news, not just yt.... it was compressed natural gas, which powered the truck. The fire was started in the truck by batteries. It's literally on every news site there is....smh

Please stop putting combustible items in the garbage. Recycle laptops Phones Game consoles Electric scooters and skateboards Basically any electronics u need to check to see if they could be dumped. Propane tanks Gas cans even if u think it's empty it's probably not.
