They’re coexisting in (almost) perfect harmony! Who ever said you couldn’t keep roosters together? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have 14 hens, and 2 roosters. My boys are brothers, who have always loved each other. I've never seen them fight more than a mild spar, and they rarely do that, although they are about 5 months old, and one of them is an aggressive mater.

Just hatch my first batch of eggs. Got a Roo. So far it's all good. Already doing what was suggested in this video. Got plenty of hens. Multiple food and water soures. So it's sounds like I'm on the right track. Here's hoping Father and Son can live together. I introduced them day three. The older Roo is getting protective. 🤞

I think you’re going to be just fine! They’re barnyard chickens. I’ve got 3 roosters under the same roof right now and still no problems! I’ll do a video update soon to show how they’re getting along

I have 17 hens with two Roo's - father n son--- the son is 7 months old and basically have the same situation in my yard like yours--father is a pure Delaware and son is half Delaware-half Barred Rock and is 3 inches taller ;) Will be keeping a close eye on them as time goes on.

I think Buffs Orpingtons tend to be mild mannered. Which is good for having multiple roosters. We have rooster brothers. They do ok. But every now and then we have a knock down drag out to settle a score and then they are friends again. 😂 My issue is I hatched out a bunch of eggs and ended up with way too many cockerels. Now I love them all and can’t bare to let them be Sunday dinner, and no one wants them for otherwise. I’m a sucker for a sweet and pretty rooster.

I have 3 roosters they are brothers. I have had them since they hatched. Things got interesting when the hormones came in. Who's in charge has changed twice. There was lots of blood. Hoping now that they are over a year old things will be calming down. We did get build a bigger coop cuz they did not like sleeping near each other.

I think the key is having lots of hens and lots of space. Each rooster will take his ladies and go separate ways. They really think they’re something 😅

Never keep just 2!! That’s a definite disaster waiting to happen. You need eithrr 1 or 3, or more. Two alone will fight eachother wrecklessly, as opposed to the others blended in to break up fights and ease tensions.

I have three roosters right now, all separate from the hens currently. My oldest boy (Eclipse) is a mix of Faverolle and Jersey Giant so he's pretty big. After only having him with the hens for two weeks he tears their backs up.. does your rooster tear his hens backs up too? I don't know how to prevent it and if its just because hes too big for our hens? We have lots of different breeds but some of them are Amarucanas. Too small?

@@bloodshotrose3374 he has a few favorites that sometimes get raw on their back. You can always put saddles on the hens that are taking most of the damage. That was what I did!
@bloodshotrose3374
@bloodshotrose3374 Ай бұрын
@@pretendfarm Yes, I do put saddles on them but, 12 of the 14 hens have bald backs from Him. (That is why I have him separate right now, to give the girls a chance to grow them back a bit, and I have two molting.) Should I just limit the time he's out with them? I do give the chickens plenty of protein and they have a lot of space so there shouldn't be any bordem picking.

I was given a rooster - he is mean! We raised 2 hens and one rooster last year and he is so beautiful we wanted to keep him. He gets the run around from the older one! The young rooster is 'with' his 2 hens most of the time. Thing is I want to introduce some more girls for them. The older one has 3 hens and the younger one has only 2. I am going to get another 5 hens segregate them a while and then 2 girls with the older one alone and 3 with the younger one - we will see what happens! The aim is for them to have 5 girls each (?).

My two roosters behaviour is similar. The dominant one (General) chases the other one (Lieutenant). General gets triggered when Lieutenant mates his girl. What is this behaviour from the General?

There is always a dominant rooster and a subordinate one when you have multiple roosters living together. Mine have always displayed the behavior you mentioned for years, but nobody ever got hurt. I don’t know what happened to cause this now since they’ve lived together for years 🤷🏻‍♂️

The 2 fight thru the fence and the new guy is about the same size but with longer spurs. I really want to try to merge , but don’t want my boy getting hurt.
