I just cut a slot with a metal Sawzall blade. That's an interesting first method.

That’s my favourite too. Snap it off fast and easy.

Excellent tips I just bolt crop off the end going into form first at an angle, love the snap off👍

What kind of clay (medium brown) are you using on your big game heads? I have been using Critter clay but the shrinkage is getting too much and I'm looking for different materials.
@ArtofTaxidermy2 жыл бұрын
The colour of the clay I use is distracting people. It is regular potters clay. I used to use critters and found no difference between that and the regular potters except it’s high price. So I switched. I deal with shrinkage too. I am trying different methods along the way to see if I can reduce shrinkage once I find out I’ll share.

Are these support rods for heavily antlers or horns from caribou or Ibex etc.

Oh it can be used on any mount… I basically use them specially when I resize the form with cuts., so I can give them more strength. Or on any part of the body that I think I weakened during the process or might break with some pressure during the work.
