I have one SVS SB16-Ultra in my open living room. Usually just my wife & I listen to music, or watch TV/Movies. Very visceral experience across the two seats. For the two of us, one large powerful sealed sub is amazing. I do see the benefit of adding a second if we were going to entertain multiple people frequently, or if our space was larger.

I have three subs. Two tens up front. One 12. On the side of my couch. All ported. For the space I’m in. It works perfects. I’m still calibrating thrm.

Huge difference with 2 tubs vs one, even in small rooms like mine. Once you go from 1 to 2+, there’s no going back! Additional benefit: harder to pinpoint sound origin when you have multiple subs… sealed all the way. Used to have ported…same thing: once I went sealed, I could not go back to ported. So much tighter and faster.

Depends on the room space,prefer 2 10/12"inch subwoofers.

I have 1 JTR Captivator 4000 near field and I run my mains full bandwidth and it sounds the best to me in my room. It’s like having 3 subs and this is going from previously having dual subs.

I use a complete system Dolby atmos set up by Monitor Audio - I recently added a second subwoofer- the difference was incredible - very pleased . The Subs themselves have two 10” cones , one down firing bass radiator and one long throw c-cam in a rear ported box - powered by a class d amplifier. If your av receiver is able to handle two subwoofers then definitely add the second

My favorite car system had 4- 10’s. Using 2 ported 10’s in the theatre. I’ll never go back to a single in a HT. I’d like to try 2 sealed subs with larger drivers next time around.

I'm using one 12 up front and my first sub a 6 inch in the rear. It works pretty good.

2 8 in = 1 10 in 2 10 in = 1 12 in 2 12 in = 1 15 in 2 15 in = 1 18 in Dual subs smooth things out; one sub can give the biggest sound. Two sealed subs are more accurate and easier to drive. Ported are great for music and movies, but can overwhelm if not calibrated. My opinion: two sealed small subs. Q

I see a few conflicts. Sealed subs take more power to drive over ported subs. As the port produces more output at lower volumes. Cone area is king, 2 10s will produce more output than one 12 being driven by an equal amount of power per sub. That is as far as car audio.

@@adaboy4z Yup, sealed are more difficult to drive so they need a beefier amp and aren't as cheap as some ported subs.

2 8s = 1 12, outperforms 1 10 2 10s = 1 15, outperforms 1 12 2 12s = 1 18, outperforms 1 15 2 15s = 1 21, outperforms 1 18 Always better to split budget between 2 smaller subs that add to more area than 1 bigger sub, assuming they're all great subs.

disagree with u about ported subs in a car,sealed always better in a car. smaller enclosure and more subs will fit in a car. also depends how big is you car

smaller driver do not move faster - not at bass frequencies - 25 cycles is 25 cycles
@Kpaceguy

Correction. Smaller drivers move faster and stop faster. All cars go 60 mph but they don't all get there at the same speed
@pastaman6099
@pastaman6099 Жыл бұрын
@@Kpaceguy for the same exact magnet strength, yes a smaller driver will move faster because of less mass, but assuming they're all from the same brand and are well made, they will keep the magnet strength and driver size proportion the same so that no one is "faster" or "slower" than the other. So bigger drivers are just more efficient.

I have a pair of Klipsch R-SW12 in my 2 channel only rig. I have tried plugging the ports to achieve a better decay time, but I can't take how muffled they (and my mains) sound. Am I correct in assuming that a better sealed (Rythmik L12) sub's clarity will be closer to the unplugged ported sub, or is that muffled sound inherent to the restriction in air flow? Thanks.

Before getting another sub, do sub crawls to find where they sound their best. A new sub will still sound muffled if that particular spot is massively bloating some frequencies at your LP. Or just adjust the crossover.
