I bought an old 77 ford L8000 dump truck that was flooded to the top of the bed, it had a 6-71 in it, filled with water, 2 stuck injectors and still ran fine. Amazing simple machines. By far the most efficient at turning fuel into noise.

The first thing you ALWAYS do when trying to start a 2 stroke Detroit that's been sitting is to pull the valve cover and free up any stuck injectors. He was lucky that the engine didn't start and run away.

NEVER attempt to turn over an engine with mechanical unit injectors unless you are sure the rack isn't stuck! The rack must operate freely without any resistance, and this must be checked both before and after barring the engine over one full revolution. Never attempt to force the rack to move as this may result in damage.

Two-strokes sound amazing, and turn fuel into smoke and noise like nothing other :) YaAZ(Yaroslavskij Avtomobilnyj Zavod, Yaroslavl Automobile Plant) 204 & 206 models were copied(not licensed, so with minor changes and re-measured in metric system) from GM Detroit Diesel 4-71 & 6-71 engines, and succeeded advantages and disadvantages. Watch for oil level, these engines tend to run-away when overfilled with oil. Also, if oil level begins to unexplainably grow, it almost always is fuel leak through injector seals(evil system, oil, fuel, and ccolant meet in one point, but so it is). Seals are not for re-use, new ones and eqiupment for injector rebuild are hard to find even in Russia. Maybe Detroit ones fit? True, Russia ordered an extra batch of overhaul machinery just before the end of the war, for maintenance of the fleet of Detroit engines in trucks and carriers aquired through the lend-lease program. With this machinery they could also machine newly cast engines. While the Russian successor, the Jaroslav 237/238/240 series, was ready in 1964 and the 204 and 206 discontinued in 1968, in America Detroit did not introduce a successor to the 71 series untill 1985 and abandoned the design in 1992 or so..

Nice video, thank you. Think worth remembering though, that if an engine's not run for years the oil can look clean on the dip stick as all the muck has settled to the bottom of the sump. Where the dip stick doesn't go, but where the oil pump suction is. Can be water in the sump too with water floating on oil. Won't look emulsified if the water's got in to the crankcase over the years the engine has stood.

Beste emiel Graag wil ik je een tip geven ,ga na het laden van accu's niet gelijk starten. Er zit knalgas boven in de accu bij het laden en dan is het bij een flinke belasting boem. Ik heb dit zelf meegemaakt en dacht altijd dat valt wel mee. Het is echt gevaarlijk. Ga gewoon door met filmpjes maken op je eigen manier een andere kijk ergens op is ook leuk. Ik vind het wel leuk met een andere techneut erbij maar dat zal best wel goed komen.

Indeed, I never worked on one before, but I think there’s an obstruction in the return line. It’s leaking fuel from the fuel filter seal at higher rpm and I couldn’t just pump the fuel through with the primer pump.

Als je even een 2 tact brommer blokje in gedachten neemt dan gaat de uitlaat klep/kleppen open op het zelfde moment dan bij dat brommertje de zuiger de uitlaat poort opent en de klep gaat weer dicht op het moment dat bij het brommertje de zuiger de uitlaat poort weer sluit, de inlaat lucht gaat net als bij dat brommertje via inlaat poorten onder in de cillinder. De nokkenas van een 2 tact met kleppen draait ook 1:1 en niet zoals bij een 4 tact 1:2
