I have a 1995 GTX and a 1995 GTS. Both are in great shape for the year, both run really well, and they are fun. Not the fastest things on the winter, but for a vintage seadoo they do alright and are very reliable

I had a 2000 XP for a little while and hated it. Wish I would have gone with the X4 787, but I sold it and got a Honda aquatrax turbo and love it. I also have a 98 Seadoo GS and it’s super fun. Also not exhaust valves and a single carb. Super easy to work on.

Hondas, at least motorcycles and atvs, have always had a reputation for being super reliable, sometimes lacking performance but super reliable. I dont know anything about Honda pwcs, but apparently they weren't doing well so they quit making them.? Kinda like Articat, good 4wheelers, crappy pwcs tho.

Another interesting video dude... as mentioned in my other video as you film outside alot...grab yourself a Rode mic to improve your audio. Keep making the videos... P.s. why the U-turn on the XPDI recently... the XPDI is such a great ski and when maintained correctly, its more fuel efficient, starts on the button faster and so on.... hope in the next engine video you explain the history of why the DI was introduced... yours is clean and nice to see it along side your carb content... I’ve had mine 5 years now and hasn’t skipped a beat... also as much as no one will admit it, the powerband on the xpdi 951 vs the comparable carb 951 has got a better pick up... the injector system IMO gave more consistency with the powerband... I’ve raced my XPDI against a number of 951 carbs including my 99 GSXL and the XPDI out of the hole is always quicker... yes it’s not as nimble as its heavier, but there is alot more to the DI than just the issues people focus on... I spend way more time working on my carbs then I ever do on my xpdi... I also think the XPDI is not tippy, those 4th gen lost too much fun factor vs the X4...interesting you think a 95 x4 is less tippy than the xpdi I would say the opposite The reason by the way 97 xp is a miss, is it was unpowered in case anyway was wondering why you said skip that year...

Thanks man. I will look into the microphone. I feel the X4 is less tippy then the hourglass hulls because you sit lower. On the 04 XP you sit higher up and every little movement is echoed down thru the ski more. I have the 01 gtx di there thats a basket case, and i cant figure out the issue with it. And now the 04 XP di is giving me issues, replacing the rectifier didn't solve my issue. It left me dead in the water the other day about 1/4mile from shore so i got a nice swim in. Lost power to everything. The green 30amp fuse in the front black starter coil box had melted. Replaced that and got power back, hooked up my Candoo Programmer and only codes showing were PTO and MAG TPS Sensors out of range..so either both are shot or the mpem has an issue with them. No need for a throttle position sensor on a carb machine, just a throttle cable lol. Just way more electrical bullcrap to fail on the DI skis. Also dont gotta worry about a $600 fuel injection pump on a carb machine. I can rebuild carbs easy, the carbs on my 96 XP i went about 6 years without touching them. Only had to replace a rectifier, starter, and coil on it. When im riding skis, fuel efficiency isnt my top priority, performance and reliability are. I trust mechanical stuff, cables, carbs, more than electrical sensors etc. The Sortie is this weekend and i am prepping for that even and camping, and the carb machines are running great.

Skip the 97 XP cuz it wad a one year mpem...the mpems are hard to find and very expensive to replace. If you're good with wiring you probably could wire in all the electrical and mpem from another 787 ski, like a 96 XP or 97-99SPX etc. Just around here the 97 XP seems to be the big one thats up for sale and beinf parted out due to the mpem issue. Theres probably 6 of them up for sale being parted out around me due to electrical issues

Actually on my way now. 2 hour drive to pick up 2 more skis. One a 2003 XPdi with a bad top end, and another 96 GTI that runs, and the dude also has. 97XP in pieces he was trying to sell me. Lol

I totally agree that the quality of the 90’s skis are superior to todays skis, they’re all basically plastic. I’ve been looking into getting a reboarding step for my XP, which one did you use and do you have any videos on it/ install tips?
@GCEXTREMEMN
@GCEXTREMEMN Жыл бұрын
Mine are an AquaStep from Watercraftsuperstore.com. No i haven't done any install videos. Its pretty straight forward install. Gotta figure out best spot to mount it, use a tape measure and mark one hole on each side, drill a small hole then mount it then do the other holes and use silicone as you go. Takes 2 people tho.

I'm thinking of selling my immaculate 96 xp to look for a 97gti . What's your opinion?
@GCEXTREMEMN
@GCEXTREMEMN Жыл бұрын
That really depends on what your riding style is. To me the 717 in that larger 97 hull is under powered. Its ok in the older 96 hull. Honestly if youre wanting a 3 seater, find a GTX with the 787 if you want power, stay away from the RFI 787s.. and if you want less maintenance and less power then get the 717. Do you not like the style of the XP, is it too tippy for you? Are u wanting a more stable cruiser rather than a sport jumping and spinning ski?

@@GCEXTREMEMN A bigger carb in the 717 might give it some juice you think? I like my 96xp but it's horrible in choppy conditions. Im in California and lakes are busy and it gets choppy. I also have kids, so I think a bigger ski might be better for me

@@doublem6027 carb wont make a huge difference, the earlier 717s came with dual carbs, 97 and newer had single carb, and people say the dual carb had a tad more power. But either way its still a basic 85hp engine, vs the 787 with 110hp. Find yourself a 96/97 GTX 787.

@@GCEXTREMEMN maybe an aftermarket impeller will boost up the speed just a bit. But thanks for the feedback buddy

I love the sea doos but the yamaha 2 strokes seem to be a lot easier to keep running.
@GCEXTREMEMN

I tend to disagree...plus the old yamahas were big and ugly and just didnt have the same sexy curves and styles the seadoos have. I see tons of old broken down yamahas in my local FB marketplace, and I get lots of calls asking if i work on older Yamahas and Polaris turd skis. I mean go look at the blocky ugly early 90s Yamaha Waverunner 1,2,3. They are ugly as heck and they arent comfortable to ride at all. No way they are better than a 95/96 XP. Theres several places around me that do nothing but part out skis, and they won't even pay to take any of them because theres no market for them.

@@GCEXTREMEMN It might just be from my limited experience. Of the 6 skis I've had over the years (mostly standups) I've had one seadoo 95 xp and I've had the hardest time with it. To your point of 2 stroke are much cheaper to maintain. I had a IBR go bad on a 2015 and I think it's probably going to be $1300 for the part alone and I have to get a seadoo mechanic to program it. Keep the videos coming. I love these old skis. A lot of fun.

@@aubie3425 was your 95 XP a 717 or a limited 787? The 717s are pretty bulletproof, they do like to eat starters tho. And occasionally the RV can get abnormally worn, causing issues. Of course most of the issues with any of these older skis is carb/fuel issues followed by electrical gremlins (rectifier, stator, coil, mpem) Thank you for liking my videos, they aren't anything special, just me and my phone camera and I do very little editing, mostly cut scenes, add titles, etc. There's alot of better quality flashy video channels out there. My buddy Pete Hager does a similar channel for ATV quads, Pete Hager is his channel name, he has over 100K subscribers and is making like $2500 a month from KZbin with his awesome videos.
