I remember one time a few years back, my grandfathers friend came for lunch. I ate all my food but my papadam and paayasam were still left. He was waiting for me to finish and I went to wash my hands. But then he asked me if I'm going to eat the rest. I told him, "yes but after I wash my hands". Then he told me sit and he took the paayasam and the papadam and he crushed the papadam. Then he put it on top of the paayasam and he told me to eat it 😭.... Actually keralites does... But not with leftovers and not everytime.. Only during sadhya served in banana leaf.. After eating 3 round of rice first with sambar, then with curd, then with rasam completing it and at last mix on the leaf they pour wheat payasam(sweet delicacy), the papad (in central kerala) or boli (as in n southkerala) along with ripe banana mix and savour it thus completing the sadhya.. In central kerala the sweet delicacy is often wheat jaggery payasam and in southkerala it is milk payasam..

I'm south Indian form Andhra Pradesh we south Indian don't eat papd with sweet and leftovers

Actually keralites does... But not with leftovers and not everytime.. Only during sadhya served in banana leaf.. After eating 3 round of rice first withsamba, then with curd, then with rasam at last mix on the leaf they pour wheat payasam(sweet delicacy), the papad (in central kerala) or boli (as in n southkerala) along with ripe banana mix and savour it thus completing the sadhya.. In central kerala the sweet delicacy is often wheat jaggery payasam and in southkerala it is milk payasam..
