2 Tricks for Unmarked Neutral and Hot Wires on Lamps & Light Fixtures

Some lamps and light fixtures come with unmarked wires making it tricky to know how to install them properly. Today I share a couple of easy ways to find the neutral (white) wire on light fixtures.

I have been trying to put my finger on it but wasn’t able til now. As I watched you install the lights it dawned on me your bedroom has a country church vibe. Very warm and inviting. Also the light fixtures look great for the space.

Nice explanation of finding the neutral. Your installation was Great, only thing I would do differently (for my own peace of mind is add the globe after the fixture is installed). Less weight when working above your head. Love the lights. Later

My son is an electrician and has worked in several of the hundred year old mansions in a city close by. They were built before electricity and were wired in the 1940's but are being upgraded. He says that they are amazingly beautiful with pocket doors, fireplaces in almost every room and magnificent woodwork. I love knowing that they are being restored and not left to decay. I would love to see the inside! Even from the outside, they are something to behold. I couldn't imagine living in such splendor!

I have always been enamoured by old lighting fixtures. We found an old gas Angle Lamp converted to electricity when we lived in the South. It just looks so appropriate above our old oak kitchen table inherited from my husband's grandma, who died in 1982 at age 98. It's like having visual living history from our ancestors who taught us so much.

we had lights similar to that in our elementary school, they didn't have chains, they had a metal rod...looks very 40/50ish, as that was the age of the school. Looking good y'all.
