Brilliant! I to am a skywatcher 150/750 explorer owner since xmas 2016. Also upgraded to the RA motor drive and am just waiting for my Canon 1000D to arrive next week. I have Baader solar film and will be doing Solar phography as well. I also went the C270 route but stripped mine out of it's case and fitted it in a 'project' box with film cartridge case as the nose tube. So far I have only captured Venus and haven't delved into the registaxx software as yet. Great Stuff.

Hello and thank you for your comment :) With your Canon it'll be great for capturing the beauty of the Deep Sky. With only poses of 30 seconds (many of them, hundreds) you'll have amazing pictures ;) Actually i'm no more using the C270 as i just bought an ASI224MC, check out here www.flickr.com/photos/hdryx/ my new pictures with it. Great work and great pictures, Bravo! Could I get similar results with the Skywatcher 150/1200 NEQ3 f8 or is the long focal lenght be a problem in astrophotography? Should I sell it and buy a shorter newtonian like yours? Or should I use mine f8 tube and buy a EQ5 or Eq6 mount for more stability? Is there a big disatvantage on using long tubes over the short fast ones in astrophoto? Thanks.
@remeusromulus9 жыл бұрын
+Seneslau07 Thank you so much, i really appreciate your comment :) What's sure is that a F5 tube is faster than a F8. So what's got in only 30 seconds of exposure you'ill need more time (maybe 60s or more) to obtain the same result. As the NEQ3 is not perfect and robust for very long exposure and guiding, i think that you should buy a better mount, EQ5 or EQ6 as you said, and a system for guiding (finderscope and guiding camera) Clear skies :)
@victorboesen38378 жыл бұрын
+Romulus how would you say the neq5 pro would work with the same scope as you. I'm not expecting crazy Hubble quality photos, and I don't want something to expensive. And could I use this mount for some future telescopes with guide scopes?
@remeusromulus8 жыл бұрын
Hi, sure the Neq5 is not an Heq5 but it's more precise and solid than my Neq3-2. If i had money when i bought my telescope i surely choose the Neq5. It can handle more charge so you can in the future add extra equipement for autoguiding like adding a parallel small scope with its camera. You can also save money buy not buying it with the GoTo but just a simple double motorisation AD and DEC. You can then with a Serial or USB adapter command the telscope from your computer ;-)

Beautiful! Will you be able to spot Andromeda with the Bresser Pollux 150/1400 EQ3 too?
@remeusromulus7 жыл бұрын
Yes it's possible, but you have to expose longer to have the same result because of the difference in the F/D ratio. I have 150/750 so F/D 5 and the Bresser 150/1400 has F/D 9. F/D 5 collects more light than F/9 ;)

+Chris Wojcik Hi and thanks for your comment :) Congratulations for your new telescope, with its 200mm mirror it's really more powerful than mine (150mm). For the same exposure time, you'll be able to collect more light, so of course you can have even more beautiful images with it. Of course you need a motor the for RA axes, and if possible add also a polar scope, it really helps to acheive easly a precise polar alignment. Clear skies ;-)

wow! I cant imagine, as soon i got enough experience and skill to use my 150/750 newton and the EQ3 mount with the Pro Hand Controller how awesome this will be. Tried already my 300mm Telezoom Lens and a Canon EOS 550D DSLR at ISO 1600 at a barn door tracker with a RC motor and belt drive (with poor results, HEAVY wiggling/vibrations) 480mm are already a nice zoom (with crop in mind), but not with a weak tripod and a barn door tracker (but works great with 30-50mm on crop) Wondering how well my new DSLR, the EOS RP will perform. Since i can use ISO 6400+ useful i can run 10-20 seconds exposure time easily instead of being heavily limited with the old 550D. Its also lighter, so better for the anyways overloaded EQ3 mount.

+František Štancl Hello and thank you for your comment. Unfortunately i'm living in a city with high light pollution, so for me it's hard to see DSO. I tried even with bright objects like M31, M42 and M13 but i didn't see anything except a faint bright thing :( But i've read that in visual we can't see colors like in pictres as the eyes aren't enough sensitive like cameras. So the only way to realy enjoy the beauty of deep sky objects with they details and colors is to photoraph them ;)

+Romulus I have decided to buy dobson 8". This dobson has larger mirror and better stability for a same price as 150/750 + eq3, but it isn't much portable. I photographed the moon through the clouds with Lumix DMC-FX12 and 25mm ocular + bad seeing. I hold camera in hands. There is image www.imgup.cz/image/6Vn. I was so surprised when I saw hundreds of stars and by the eye only three :-D
@Wic2r9 жыл бұрын
+František Štancl If you only see 3 stars visually and over 100 photographically, they're probably just hot pixels. Happens a lot, it's easy to mistake them for being stars...

+Wictor Arthur No, no, You understand me wrong, my mistake. I saw many stars visually with telescope and without telescope only three. I didn't photograph them but I'll try it

@remeusromulus9 жыл бұрын
despotmurgatroid You're in Australia? So you're in the Southern Hemisphere and you can't see polaris. You should then do polar alignment on Octans ;)
@garrygadget9 жыл бұрын
Romulus no I'm in the UK and got the polar scope from FLO and it doesn't show the plough etc as I expected but the southern stars and it threw me lol. The guys at flo said they are all like this now but you have three inner circles to align polaris it's because as polaris changes position slightly it makes it more accurate but it just confused me?
@remeusromulus9 жыл бұрын
despotmurgatroid Yes polaris position relative the north celestial pole changes. To know the exact position at a specific time, you have to use a tool for that. You can use this online : www.takahashi-europe.com/support/softwares/polarisfinder/polarisfinder-1.5-en.htm or download PolarFinder (free software). After that you should put polaris in the exact position on the reticule as it's shown in the software. That's all :)

hey, i'm 14 years old and i've studied space for 4 years intensly. I'm finally allowed to buy my first telescope but i'm not sure which one to pick? I'm kinda nervous about the set-up since i know that its obviously not just a two step progress. Can someone help me out? Thanks :) - Swedish girl
@remeusromulus8 жыл бұрын
Hello, Buying a telescope really depends on what are you going to use it for : Observation? Photography (Astrophotography)? Using it for Planetary ? Or Deep Sky (nebulas, galaxies, star clusters, ...). So it's important to fix what are planning to use it for. For the Skywatcher 150/750 is a really good telescope for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers. It's easy to use and to manipulate. Thanks to it's large mirror of 150mm, it can be used for planetary and deep sky (visual and photography). In my case it's my first telescope and i don't regret it. All the pictures in the videos were made with it (in just 2 weeks). Now i'm having it since more that year and i'm really satisfied ( Check here my latest pictures : astrophotography-telescope.com/deep-sky-images-with-telescope-skywatcher-150750/) Please not that this telescope is a little beat heavy, it weighs about 5kg (without the mount that weights more than that). So you should consider that point. There are other telescopes that weighs less than that. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

For Planetary imaging the exposure is very short (some milliseconds) so you don't need a precise movement and tracking of the mount. You can move manually and slowly the mount. After that softwares like Autostakkert or Registax will automatically reject bad frames with fuzzy and blurred images due to the mount vibrations when you move it manually ;) Link to download Autostakkert : bit.ly/2DvUgql Link to download Registax : bit.ly/2n9vlmu

Hi Romulus ! My father and I are new in the astronomy/telescope thing, but we wanted to see some sky objects because the sky is very clear where we live. So we bought a dob 150/750 (I think it's kinda the same as you) and we've been trying to see some objects but when we point at bright stars we can only see them with a very small magnification. We see the bright dots closer but they're still dots... we can't really see the objects. Do you think we did something wrong or is it the telescope ? Because I'm not even close from seeing the things you showed in the video ... maybe I should do more research on what I can see and what I can't ? or am I aiming at too small objects ? please help :c Edit : I forgot to say, you did amazing pictures by the way, great video :D
@ktsvetkov6 жыл бұрын
Stars are always dots. Actually, what he (Romulus) is showing on this picture are just artifacts of the light diffraction. So, don't expect to see the "surface" of the star - this is impossible even with the biggest professional telescopes. Interesting observation you can do with very high magnification on stars is to try to separate double/triple systems like Castor (Alpha Geminorum), for example. Even then, I'm not sure how easy it is going to be with dobsonian, because at really high magnifications you need a quick way to follow the object on the sky. Clear skies!

Hi, magnification can be modified either by a Barlow lens (x2, x3 ...) or by choosing the right sensor size. The sensor size has an impact on how "big" the image will be. You can check this great online tool www.skyatnightmagazine.com/astronomy-field-view-calculator for testing different configuration (scope, camera, sensor) and the impact on the image size ;) Clear skies :)

Hello Romulus i have this telescope and mount but i have a question for you, have you wondered or tried other tube on the same mount? I say little bit heavier...
@remeusromulus7 жыл бұрын
Hello, no i didn't try other tube on my mount. And to be honnest i think that the 150/750 is the maximum that the eq3-2 can support, specially for astrophotography. Skywatcher said that the mount can support up to 5kg of charge. The tube 150/750 weighs 4.5 kg. If we add other equipement (Camera + adapter + finderscope + ...), il will surely exceed the maximum load supported by the mount ;) Maybe for only visual a heavier tube can be supported. Clear skies :-)

Hi..i have d3200..how to take like this pictures ? I have celestron astromaster 130eq telescope but I couldn't take a single picture with it...
@remeusromulus7 жыл бұрын
Hi, you have to buy a T Ring adapter (be sure it's Nikon as you have a Nikon) to be able to connect your camera to your scope, that's it ;)

Will you use it for observation or for astrophotography? For deep sky or planetary or both ? What's your budget?
@arshadwm4 жыл бұрын
Looking for multipurpose both planets and deep sky. Budget upto 3000 USD. I heard about Dobsonian skywatcher 16 inch or Celestron SCT 9.25. Secondly it should be motorized to track the movement as well as sky finder. Thanks.

@@arshadwm so mainly for observation and not astrophotography?

If option is avbl for photos why not but main target is planets and deep sky.

@remeusromulus8 жыл бұрын
Yes, all the images are processed.
@ΑντώνιοςΘωμάς8 жыл бұрын
Romulus Without process how are it?
@remeusromulus8 жыл бұрын
It really depend of the objects and the quality of the sky. If the sky is really dark and far from any light pollution then some bright nebulas, clusters and galaxies can be beautiful. The image processing in astrophotography aims to reduce the noise of the images (generated by the camera) by stacking many pictures of the same objects, then enhancing the details and colors.

Hi Romulus thank you for sharing those incredible DSO images! May I ask how did you achieve focus on this telescope? Did you use only the T adapter to achieve prime focus or tweaking the primary mirror / adding Barlow lens was required?

So is it possible to shoot nebula without motorized tracking system? Just adjust the nebula to the center of my view each time before taking the picture? Then use deep space stack to process the pictures? Thanks!
@remeusromulus7 жыл бұрын
Shooting deep sky objects without tracking is not possible. You need at least an RA (Right Ascension) tracking motor + vert good polar aligment. But you can do Planetary imaging without tracking motor, you have to recenter manually the target ;)
@余越崎7 жыл бұрын
Oh, I see, thanks a lot! I was just considering to start with a sky-watcher 150/750.

150/750 is a great choice to start in astrophotography ;) Good luck and clear skies :)

Andromeda in 300X?
@valentinotera32445 жыл бұрын
Nope, a full Andromeda (wich means included the less brighter part of the galaxy) is 6 time larger than Moon. 30x are almost too much. You can take it even with a tripod and 200mm lens. Not as good as this one of course, becouse you have few seconds exposure but... you can shock yourself! So: Tripod; DSLR; 200 to 400 mm lens; Sequator for align pics, noise and light pollution improvement; Cosmetic PP editing. PS: Orion Nebula is the easyest one. You can, at the beginning, been sotisfied even with a single 3 seconds exposure shot without any other editing (more or less my profile picture)

Hey, I have a pretty nice telescope and this camera. I bought the t ring and t adapter so the camera now fits into the telescope but idk anything about the camera. If I can, I want good detailed pics of the Orion Nebula, Jupiter and possibly some star clusters, but I just don't know how to make the camera do anything! Help please!!
@remeusromulus9 жыл бұрын
+Herzy VFX Hi, planetry imaging is different from deep space. For planetary you need to take videos and then processing them in Autostakkert or Registax. For deep sky objects, you have to take photos with long exposure. If Orion Nebula is visible try on it. It's a bright and easy object to start with. Set your camera to manual mode and ISO to 800 for example. Then shoot at 20 seconds (shutter speed). If your stars are pretty round then increase the shutter speed, if not then decrease it. It depends of the precision of your polar alignement. Clear skies :)

I have same reflector and eq3-2 as yours. Would like to if using single axis motor only, can track object easily? As I know there is a dual axis motor for this eq3-2 mount, don't know if single axis motor can be installed for this mount...

Hi! I’m currently waiting for my telescope (the exact same 150/750 SW on an Eq5), but I’m curious about what barlow did you use here: (astrophotography-telescope.com/wp-content/uploads/photo-gallery/6planets-webcam-logitech.png). I know that it comes with a 2x barlow, but I don’t know what barlow I should buy in order to get the best planet views (2x? 3x? or 5x?). Thank you and clear skies!

Hi! Do you have any problem with the overload? The manufacturer says the mount have 5kg max load and the telescope is 4.9-5kg itself. With camera it become to 5.4-5.5kg. It's not too high for the mount? I wanna use it for astrophotography (unguided).
