Thank you so much for your kind words. As luck has I will be coming out with NEW Weekly wire wrap content. The first episode of my program, entitled "Wire Wrapping with the WrapMaker - Jim McIntosh" will debut on my KZbin channel on November 16th, 2023. So stay tuned.

Wonderful video tutorial, Jim! I am 78 and my fingers and wrists have some arthritis and nerve issues. I have recently discovered though that working with wire is so enjoyable. With simple designs, like you've shown here, plus designs I've seen elsewhere that sell quite well, I realize I can create with wire without having to make detailed, work intensive styles. I will check out more of your videos. Thank you so much! Judith

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. Over the years I have taught a lot of people who have the same situation as you. We were able to develop a lot of different techniques to make creating with wire a lot easier - I teach those techniques in each of my project videos. That also lead me to developing my WrapMaker pliers. I noticed that many of my students had difficulty holding wire bundles and starting a wrap at the same time. I figured out that there must be an easier way to do...thus, WrapMaker Pliers. Thanks for watching.

Jim I've made one Turquoise Ring. I'm interested in Gemstone Rings and it was perfect but I tried my best. I gave it toy nephew for Christmas 🎄and he loved it even though it doesn't fit his finger he's only 8 years old but he loves it it's blue that's his favorite color blue 💙

My biggest problem is after I make something, owning it. I don't think anything is worth selling. And I see people who are putting out what looks like beginner's work but then own it and put it on the market. I'm jealous of these people.
@JimMcIntosh Жыл бұрын
That is a dilemma. When it comes to art it's all in the eye of the beholder. What you may think looks like beginner work, may amaze certain people. My wife loves to give pieces away sometimes. If someone fawns over a piece that she is wearing, she will offer it to them. You never know what people will respond to if you don't put yourself out there.

Thanks Jim for sharing your knowledge and work so generously. I’ve only just found your channel and I’m definitely going to make the earrings. Thanks for the tip about using painters tape. In the U.K. we call it ‘masking tape’. I’ve just heard you say that you shoot wires across the room…I do that, fortunately I wear specs👓 so that I don’t end up with an eye injury😊. Thanks.

Good morning, Jim Insomnia has me watching this video at 4:30 a.m. LOL You would not believe how much time I have devoted trying to get my earrings loops to look alike. Never thought of using the painters tape to form both at the same time! I do this for the earring hooks but never for the earrings. Thanks so much for this tip. Can't wait for the classes to begin. When you say materials will be sent, does this mean the wire?
@JimMcIntosh2 жыл бұрын
Good morning....trust me, painters tape is one of my favorite tools. I wish that more people would use it when making wire jewelry. For the classes, I do sent out all of the materials needed to make the class project - wire and cabochons.

Dead soft wire. It's much easier on your fingers. You can work harden it by hammering it with a raw hide mallet

I'm not sure where you're currently getting your wire from, however, I get most of my wire from Rio Grande (www.riogrande.com). You do need to set up an account with them, but they're great and well worth it. I hope this helps.

May I ask what you would price the ring at?
@JimMcIntosh2 жыл бұрын
Sure. We display them on our Art Show table and price them at $5 USD. The cost of materials is about $1 usd. They take 5 - 7 minutes to make. Many times we will give one away to a customer who purchases a couple of pieces and their child has been eyeing them. It goes along way when making a customer happy. Sometimes we'll do it with the earrings. Hope that helps.

Why didn't I ever think of just using some FRIGGIN TAPE. I usually have a mass of chaos for like half the time I'm working on a project, haha

I wanted to watch this but it’s over five minutes and you haven’t even done anything yet. You’re talking to us like we are a bunch of beginners!
@JimMcIntosh2 жыл бұрын
I do apologize for my ramblings. I approach all of my videos from a beginner point of view. I never assume that everyone who watches knows everything about wire wrapping. It's my goal to make this art as easy as possible so that it attracts more new artists. One thing you can do is hit the fast forward button a couple of time until you get to the place where the information that you are looking for begins. Again, I am very sorry for rambling on.
