Great experience. I heard a bull bugle this morning when I let my dog out. That is a sound that I will never get tired of hearing! Great Video!

Shot, or no shot, it's the events like that one that make all the effort worth while! 3 yards from a huge bull elk! How many people will ever get to experience something like that in this lifetime? Not to many...I'm sure. I just hope that in the next few years I'll get the opportunity to be one of them! Cool video, and I hope you had a change of underwear with ya!

great calling and nice bull. You seemed to turn him with the semi hyper-estrus call. I'm new to elk hunting and called in my first Bull this year. I think this video proves that they don't always charge in immediately like mine did this season, but if you work em' with the right calls and be patient they will come for a look. Thanks for the tip.

For those who are against hunting, I understand that you appreciate these animals. As an ecologist, I am now convinced that hunting is a much more environmentally sound way of procuring meat when done in a sustainable manner. Hunting provides as natural a meat as you can get, hence it is healthier than cornfed beef.

I have an old VHS tape that has a photographer going round and round the pine tree trying to keep from getting goosed by a twelve inch brow tine. This bull was pissed. Slobering, bugling, etc. He wanted a piece of the photgrapher. And it was a NICE bull. Guess 370 class.

Man has hunted for thousands if not millions of years and just because we don't do the killing ourselves anymore does not mean that animals do not suffer and are not killed. I am shocked by comments that this is cruel from people who eat meat everyday but let some one else do the killing. I am sick of these idiots that think meat comes from the store and that hunting cruel when the animals they eat suffered their entire lives in confinement lots and a hunted animal for minutes.

Plus hunting reduces our reliance on beef and therefore reduces the negative impact that cows have on the environment. Although they may not like to admit it, hunters and environmentalists are rapidly converging in their ideals.

To all of you that ate wondering this is a free ranging bull elk in Montana. I shot a bull in this area a few days before that was a 6x6 almost as big as this one. I love hunting elk but I also love to just seeing these awesome animals. This is private land and I am one lucky guy to hunt there. I trade work to hunt this place and I feel very lucky to hunt it.

my apologies about my bad info. Unless they have changed it the elk farm had to be operating before the year 2000. At that time there were several chronic wasting disease scares that were key players in the drama of elk farming. We might need farms now thanks to the wolf.

@azatrox the original enviromentalists were hunters they decided to pay for habitat and management by buying tags and other licenses. look at Theodore Rosevelt he loved hunting but also set aside yellowstone where no hunting could happen. I think the ideals of the two groups are re merging more than the wack jod enviros would like to admit but were ever there has been a major step in enviromental issues hunters have lead the way.

It's great that this hunter shared the magnificence of this animal with us. What I don't get is how someoone can see this and get a hard on for killing one. I'd like to see one of these hunters try to hide with that thing on his head. Yes, it is preferable that you don't eat factory farm meat, but hunting means killing another living breathing feeling animal and being directly responsible for that shortened life span. Why should that give someone a rush?

One I don't say anything about making a chest shot. Two chest shot is horrible and unethical? Ive killed many whitetail facing directly at me with a chest shot. Every time the arrow has gone through the heart and a lung. The farthest I've ever tracked a chest shot deer that was hit in the right spot 60 yards. Please explain your reasoning on why you think chest shots are bad/unethical?

He's saying, and I agree, that if you're going to eat meat, it is more humane to harvest meat from a wild animal that didn't suffer a long and horrid life in a slaughter house. I killed two deer this year, both died quickly. Because of this, I have not purchased any beef, so that's one less cow that had to live in a filthy slaughter house.

@ ASSfalcon What the hell would you know about it? As a (former) US Marine Sniper and avid hunter, I know from where I speak. Outstanding video, Huysers!

did you see this one get shot? I only take what will be eaten, and i would rather eat some animal that lived a long free life instead of a piece of beef in a feed lot living in 2ft of manure most of its life. I have more respect for animals than i do some people. I hunt b/c I love animals and the outdoors very much. close encounters like this is why i love to hunt. If anyone was keeping score, for the amount of days im the field hunting I dont shoot many animals.

In case you haven't noticed, we hunter's kill in the quickest way possible. What would you rather us do, leave them alone and live in peace? You know where that gets us all? Starvation! The animals would die because we eat vegetation, which is the herbivores' food, and animals like elk, deer and rodents would die out. In turn, predators would die out because of the lack of herbivores, forcing them to either hunt other predators or resort to cannibalism. Thus, all of the animals would be dead.
