2 year Guitar Progress

I explained before but Ive always had guitars in my house since i was younger but i never really learned how to play them. I needed another hobby during covid so i decided to actually start learning.

Thank you so much man. The lead playing is definitely a challenge like everything else when you first start, but now it's what I like playing the most. So much so that I need to focus more on rhythm now lol

How many hours a day do you think you practiced

@@dueskivlogs3848 my practice kinda depended on what I had going on throughout the day, but I'll say I'd practice for maybe 3 hours at most.

Dude you are amazing! This year is my 3rd time getting back into guitar. Lol… 6 months so far after this last start up, and you are really inspiring. If you don’t mind what was/is your practice structure? My biggest issue is “noodling”

Thanks for the kind words! :). For the most part I don't really have a structured practice routine. I learned licks from people like cameron cooper and would honestly just play them over and over until they were faster. Then I'd move on to something else and do the same thing

As someone who is about 5 months into learning electric guitar, this is inspiring bro. I am also currently learning the solo from Run by Joji, but I currently can’t pick the fast triplet run quick enough. What exactly did you practice/how did you practice so you could eventually play the solo perfectly in August 2021? Do you have any tips in specific? Any exercises that really helped with that part of the solo?

I found a few videos on two note per string picking/pick slanting. Ben Higgins explains it really well but I took what he suggested and just played along with the solo at half speed. Eventually I moved it up to 75% then so on

When I first started I watched a lot of "justin guitar." From Then I would look up simple songs that i liked and play those. Then as I got better I watched Guitarlessons365, Chris Zoupa, and Cameron cooper.

just gotta ask. what did you do to get so good at the lead work? been playing just as long as you have. I can play all types of stuff real well but lead is where I kinda fall behind just a bit.

I watched a lot of cameron cooper's videos and practiced what he taught. It was a lot of evh and other 80s type stuff.

I took lessons for the first 3 months or so. Then I just started using youtube. My instructor broke me out of a lot of bad habits in the beginning.

Try learning easy songs first to get the idea how playing feels and try playing every day for an hour or two but with breaks. A lot of people stop playing because they get bored but always challenge yourself

I just picked a few solos I really liked and practiced them a lot. Eventually was able to play them but it took a while

Yeah it's pretty good. Stays in tune pretty well. It's the ibanez rg450dxb
