How did you go from "meh" to perfect in 2 drawings.

Sometimes people's skills vary in drawings and don't appear so apparent in them. That's why you have people getting better having such varying difference, from very low to very skillful in a tiny amount of drawings. You will occasionally have the artist whose skill does not appear in some drawings, but suddenly, their next one is milestones better. After all, we're humans.

Also you can improve faster by assessing your drawing to see what needed improving & to make sure to do it differently for your next drawings. Think about what can make your drawings better and try to apply it. This can avoid you to do the same mistakes over and over again. Also, practice a lot and get into the habit of assessing your drawing.

it has a name : tracing the only thing he did was coloring with skills , you can do it too :) there is a LOT of guys using that "technique" , the only thing which you cannot fake it having people front of you drawing for real everytime it happens to people who wow the thing i just wanna see the artist drawing for real and when it shows struggles , you cannot be fooled . and trust me there is a lot of fakers

ROgers Fab tracing is a good way to get used to drawing things accurately and its not a bad way to learn.at a professional level its a time saver

i want to see actual drawing progress not shading progress. i see one side of the improvement. i want to see that sketching out process from beginning to end. that's what will help people see your progress in my opinion. you have phenomenal work though no doubt.

I dont think that he sketches them, He do the same as most speed drawers on youtube, copy outlines from original photo and then shades. Which in other hand called cheating :/ But still looks nice! :)

JreyTroit Completely agree. My experience was that I would be so confident of my shading if I had lines put down from a trace that it was easy. The real challenge is the initial lines and having the confidence in them to commit to those lines with the shading that follows.

The real question is how much time was invested, though. I enjoy painting and I'm not too bad at it, but I'm nowhere near photorealism (which is my favourite type of art). I wish I had the time to practice and practice every day to achieve this level of skill, but I can't so I'm just painting things which are okay, but really not the art I admire.

Sony That is more than impossible for me. I'm preparing for medical school and it is hell. I never have time for anything. Maybe on the weekend I can spare an hour or two, but that's it.

subwayvesubscriber we all have our priorities. Consistency is key. if u can only do it for an hour on weekends. It's better than nothing. that's 8-16 hours of drawing practice per month. I'd say even with that amount of practice your drawing will definitely improve in a year. From just knowing how the shape of a nose should be drawn or how shading is supposed to work.

If you try drawing at least once a day (and I understand it's hard and that's okay) you will not only get better at drawing better paintings, but also you will paint them in less time. I started drawing like a year ago, and I try drawing something everyday, like a little comic or something, and I just noticed that it takes me less time to draw better images than it took me in the beginning to draw less skilled ones. So just practice :D I really see potential in you

I think that reproducing photos is a good exercise, though the real adventure is creating your own stfuf from immagination, which I find more appealing (maybe that's just me), but good skills! keep it up

Amazing tone and shading work, I know some people will say tracing is cheating but it's not. If you want 100% accuracy for a portrait then there's no better way and it's a real time saver, still bags of talent!! Keep up the amazing work!

From what I could tell, you learned very quickly not to stop working on the piece until its done. Your first pieces could be just as good as the others if you finished them. I also see that you learned the play of light and shadow wonderfully and quickly. Give it a few more years and you'll give Emanuel Dascanio a run for his money!

wow. just wow my friend. gotta say, the hair... the technique used for the hair was impressive. I think that was my favorite part of every drawing, for sure. skin textures outside the face, such as the neck AMD shoulders, need work still. but that was just amazing.
