This Shay was a limited run of 12 pieces for our store! It celebrates the Shay that MTH first made in 1997 with an updated version that it's definitely worthy of the model and prototype! The real WVP&PCo. Shay #12 was the largest Shay ever to operate after it was converted from a 150-ton 3-Truck model to a 150-ton 4-Truck model to extend it's water range. It weighed a whopping 197 tons after the conversion and worked the mountains around the Cass, WV area until an unfortunate accident with a Western Maryland 2-8-0 bent the frame and sidelined it permanently until it was eventually scrapped. We celebrate the model from 1997 and the real life prototype with this recreation!
