Those grip pads are also great to keep cakes sturdy on your turn table. Especially when your making smaller cakes. It keeps the board still so that it doesn't move while you're icing. Also I use them to stack pots so they don't scratch, and I also use them under hot pots when serving something warm at the table.

@evamyrick98034 жыл бұрын
Sarah, I use those same scissors to cut pizza too.I gave up on pizza cutters years ago. Hint when using straight skewers, if you use two what ever you put on the skewers will not rotate when you turn you food over. I own a bunch of the DT ones. But I like my double pronged one the best. My favorite kitchen item is the wire cake racks. I was buying the racks that came in two pc. . I have a large 12 ft x 16 ft pantry that has 9 of those 4 ft wide by 78 inches tall wire metal shelving units. I used the racks to close off the shelves on the ends or back side that don't touch the walls. I just zip tried them onto the shelves. Then on the end of one unit that the end is easy to get to I bent the racks into square "U" shapes and attached 10 of them above each other forming wire holders for my, Press N Seal, tin foil, wax paper, parchment paper, baggies and so forth. You can also do this to make spice racks or all kinds of things. In the garden section last year I purchase 4 of those flower pot trolleys. You know the ones that go under the pots and have little wheels. I use them as lazy Susan's in my cabinets I use the stainless steel scrappers to clean off the top of my Blackstone flat top griddle. I also sharpen them and cut a lot of vegetable at one time. I rest my glue gun on one. There are many uses for them. The skimmer is also good for dipping out pasta from the water. I cook in glass pans and you can't just dump the water off, the pasta will stick to the pan before you get it all dumped into a strainer. I find the DT micro fiber dish towels USELESS for drying dishes. Thanks Sarah for sharing your best kitchen items from DT.

Didn't know about the silicon; I'll hunt for that. Been using some of these for years. One thing you didn't include is a quilted placement sized "drying mat" that you place under your dish drainer on your drainboard. I have two and they are LIFE SAVING for keeping my drainboard dry during dishes. One of mine is a small one and one is a larger one. I need to grab more larger ones my next trip to DT I swear. Been tempted to get the white bowl, but I have a discarded Kitchen Aid metal bowl that has a ring I can slide my fingers through to hold still so I've held out on getting it, but I have picked up their stoneware bowls in a few colors for cereal for the kids--if they break, it was a buck. They come clean really well and stack decently. (Don't leave a can that you're rinsing for recycling in a white bowl though. I think I asked for trouble there) I've bought their packs of silverwear, I'm on the hunt for their wooden spoons--no luck so far, sadly--and I have my favorites I get each time from the meds section: Tylenol Sinus, Sudafed, Mucinex, and allergy in a pale green box. I bought my hair stuff from there. I bought their lanterns for use when the lights go out (have used them one at least for that and a few times when our parking lot lights were out and trash needed to go out). The dog collars work for my cats who destroy collars anyways. LA Awesome.Their pressboard door decorations are on my door for each holiday. Current one says Dream It! On the back is a metal butterfly in purple with a bead--it's my favorite of their door hangers. I LOVE Dollar Tree, but I know that I can get into so much danger in there. That's not to mention the food that I can buy! :)

One thing I'd add is the Betty Crocker spatula. They are great for scraping out from pans or bowls.
@soniaetovar60414 жыл бұрын
The silver scraper is not “useless”, it can have so many uses. I use mine in the kitchen when cutting veggies, I am able to scoop them up into a pan. Or you can use it to scrape off labels on flat surfaces after wetting it. I too love the white mixing bowl, but I use mine to throw my peels or scraps when I’m cutting and chopping. Betty Crocker scissors are great. 👍🏼 I love your idea of having a set of cooking stuff just for bbq, I’ll have to try it. Thanks for all your love and suggestions

I do have some of these items from the Dollar Tree. The only one I wouldn't buy is the apple slicer. I find that any that I've purchased, expensive or cheap, have not worked properly and some broke. I just use a knife now. I'm glad you've got a decent mixing bowl for your baking. I have one similar to the white one you held up, but it's quite heavy plastic. It works great for mixing just about everything. I have a scraper also and use it to pick up chopped fruits or vegetables on my cutting board. It seems to pick up every tiny piece. A great tool. I've got the silicone hot pads but wouldn't recommend them for taking hot items out of the oven. They just aren't thick enough and I've found the heat comes through very quickly!! Ouch! A fun video and makes me want to get to my Dollar Tree. Soon....

I agree, the bamboo skewers can be hella *useless*. Many a marshmallow has been sacrificed to the flames because of those dinky sticks. My favorite DT gadgets are the "Take It To Go" reusable travel cups that come 2 in a pack. I use them for hot and cold drinks and they're great. Their ice cream scoop (mines is about 4 years old and still perfect) and those Betty Crocker scissors.

Thanks for your tips and good advice. If you ever use wooden skewers again soak them in water as long as you have time for. Soaking them is what keeps them from burning. One time I soaked mine over night with a smokey hickory seasoning to see if it would something to the food. I don't know if it did anything but it was a fun idea to try.

Very informative video. A week ago I purchased the bowl and love it. Wish the material was a bit sturdier. Saw the skewers will puchase. Reason your wooden skewers may have burned is because you did not soak them long enough before using. Like the idea of using the plastic bottles for condiments. Keep posting these useful ideas as it will help others from buying stuff that is a waste of money. Love youtube videos they help a lot.
