I've never been on a cruise ship but the architecture and different venues are obvious attractions to taking one. The downside is a greater population due to the larger ship's capacity.

Why do we need to keep making more and more and more of these colossal ships? Because we can. Because it is profitable. Poor Lil Disney ship with it's kid-diddling music horns. My neighbor said Disney Wish and Fantasy were the worst cruise ships of the 11 that he and his family has been on and by the 2nd day they all were already bored. He said the Royal Caribbean ships are by far the best and most entertaining.

Sort of defeats the purpose of going on a cruise. You want to experience the true feeling if being a speck in the ocean, not on a huge floating high rise resort that feels more like on an island than a ship. Experience the misery of sea sickness, getting rocked in your bunk by the heavy swell and the sounds of the huge diesel engines pulsing like the ships heartbeat.

I am confused about the list. I don't know the exact numbers but i'm pretty sure these aren't near the biggest ships in the World as I'm pretty sure there are countless cargo and oil tankers that dwarf these cruise ships. He speaks of holding 7,000- 10,000 people when those cargo ships hold close to that many containers (which in case anyone didn't containers are much bigger than people)
