When you said that weather idioms are commonly used in music I immediately remembered this indie song: "Head in the clouds, she eats me whole/A face in the crowd, my oversoul/And I'm spinning out, I lose control/ And I don't care, and I don't care..." (by Mark Owen). Thanks for this video Anna, I love idioms and this one in particular applies to me lol ;)

Hi Anna, i heard the idiom "cloud nine" somewhere, I think it's from " wide awake", Katy Perry's song. The lyrics are like: On the concrete Falling from cloud nine Crashing from the high...... But i don't think the meaning is the same.

Hello Anna, If I feel a bit under the weather, as soon as I see your face or hear your voice you brighten me up and indeed I am as right as rain again! Your healing properties are not just mere suggestion, they are a fact! Anyway, as for the songs containing weather-related idioms, the only one that comes to my mind off the top of my head is: Rain on your parade by Duffy. There is an English expression I have heard of which is perhaps a bit too rude to be included in an English class : to break wind. This is so funny to me because in my view its rudeness is somehow softened by the weather-linked word "wind" and the verb used (break) suggests you did it unintentionally. If one should break wind in public.. answering :More tea, Vicar?may help dissipate the embarrassment of the situation! Thank you Anna! You've been boosting my teaching skills and self-assurance since I got into the habit of following your lessons! You are an all-round artist! Too many compliments at once? In that case... Keep them for rainy days!!

We saw some great weather idioms there! We shouldn't confuse this one as a weather idiom, though: ''To rein in' or 'To rein something in.' This means to bring something or somebody under control. "We will have to rein in all of our unnecessary outgoings.' They will have to be reined in. There is also 'under the sun.' This one refers to a great amount and is most certainly an example of hyperbole (exaggeration); Anna rattled off all the weather idioms under the sun. I've watched all the English videos under the sun. We read all the books under the sun to help us learn idioms.

Fingers crossed is a way of saying you hope for something to happen (or not happen). Like "I hope it stays sunny all day" = "Fingers crossed it stays sunny all day", "I hope it won't be cold tonight" = "Fingers crossed it won't be cold tonight".
