You can create a nee layer under the doodle layer, then you can start coloring. If you want to just do a color drop- type of coloring, mark the doodle layer as a reference, create new layer below it and you can start color dropping.

@@KiraB4484 layers ore a great way for overlapping - often make a duplicate of my layers which allows me to adapt one version to make a clean layer and erase part of the lines where things overlap.
