As a tech savvy computer dj audio enthusiast I APPROVE of this! I do it in a slightly different way though and much cheaper and is used daily, I pay for youtube premium and utilize another PC or Smart TV or Dumb TV/Monitor with a Smart player (any of those android or amazon dongle/box devices that have youtube smart tv app) and connect it to my Audio setup. Use my phone (youtube link to device code) to remotely queue songs on the youtube smart tv app player no ads or pauses, just continuous karaoke! KZbin can also pre download a whole karaoke playlist if there will be no internet on the venue, but of course preparation is required.

VDJ is the #1 DJ Software. I love when I’m DJing a Grad Party or Birthday Party and they never mention Karaoke until I get all setup. I tell them well that was never mentioned in any of our meetings and you didn’t check it off on the contract, but I have an alternative option. The option is play the original song and kill the Vocals and have them pull the Vocals on their phones. Let me tell you people love it because they are singing to the Original song. HDMI up to about 15m is no issue. I’m also one of the “f#*k karaoke” people as well, but you’ve nailed how to make it easy if you need to … and make sure you charge appropriately!

HDMI can go pretty far, you may need an active cable, or a fiber HDMI cable for much further runs, but you can easily go up to 50 feet without any real signal degradation with regular copper. theres also wireless HDMI that can get expensive, but im sure if you have your own router, which you wont need an expensive one, you dont have to have it connected to the internet, but you could probably do local video streaming through a smart tv app. theres also ways of doing video out through USB 3.0 and faster. but, for a dj that does karaoke frequently, has a lot of screens, or a pure digital DJ, I would argue an older SFF (small form factor) desktop workstation would be better. the more modern computers have multiple video outputs, you have plenty of expansion that you can use to add more storage drives, faster storage, as many usb ports as you need without a hub, and theres probably much more that im just not thinking about. and ok yes, desktops are a bit more to set up, and while i dont think its relevant to you, brian, and the other DJs who cant really lift heavier things, but it seems like a lot of DJs are building their own booth furniture to try to stand out from the competition, and you could just mount the computer into the booth, or just make the booth the computer case.

Great video Brian, also don't forget, if you set up "Ask the DJ" that's built into VDJ, all you have to do is let the people know they can send their song requests directly to you, and the requests show up in the "ask the dj" folder. Maybe another video?..lol

*My gripe with Karoale setups are the mics screaming at me...i don't have a feedback suppressor/killer so i have to manage what i have this is why i avoid karaoke gigs plus drunk clients break things far too often at karoake gigs so yeah i avoid them to be honest* 😢

Regarding singers that scream, I use an external mixer and have to ride the mic level from singer to singer. There's no getting around it. And, if they drop my mics and break it, they're not leaving until it's paid for. Good luck.

Maybe? I set it up for them so their spokesmodels could run it. They also switched "hospitality" companies who provide retail & models. My friend's company is still handling tour management logistics as far as I know. If my phone does not ring, it must still be working as it should :)
