The joy I feel when I see you two in a thumbnail is palpable!!! I love Oud but not super animalic or medicinal Oud. But I do own, love and wear L’ Artisan Al Oudh which I don’t find to be animalic on me. Cumin is my jam too. I do get a little BO vibe from cumin also but I kinda like that about it. I’m looking forward to trying Strangelove NYC, I hear they have some bangers. Thank you for the hard work you put in creating such wonderful content and thank you for making it joyful to experience!

Sebastian. I went into Neiman Marcus and spoke with the fragrance girl at the counter. It turns out that she was from Saudi Arabia and she told me that Saudi‘s have come in to the store before it and let her know that that smell of Oud Palaou is exactly the proper Middle Eastern version of a oud, (which are supposed to have an almost equal amount of rose as well.) and if you think about it the Saudi‘s were the first to bring oud/attars to the market isn’t That correct?

I think Oud Palao is quite amazing for an oud. I love it. I have a comparison of it with Oud Ispahan as they do remind me of one another. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIfWZ5adnKeFY6s

The oud is an Arabic word meaning a small piece of wood. We adore the oud. It is in the depth of ancient customs and traditions on occasions where we buy raw oud and put on a piece of embers and we burn it to spread smoke in the place, furniture and clothes. Many types must differentiate between its types. Not every stick is original. There are many types of it. I am talking about the oud, which we Bedouin Arabs from Saudi Arabia use, not other types manufactured by some regions in Southeast Asia. The only original raw oud exported is Cambodia. It is basically a disease that affects a type of tree in Cambodia that is eradicated from the tree without any industrial treatment. My brothers and I 4 share in buying a kilo of oud is not top-grade but excellent and the price is in the range of 6 thousand dollars per kilo. An antique like wine for years, presented here in Saudi Arabia, at 16,000 dollars for 12 grams. Do not laugh, I speak very seriously. Finally, I am not a fan of any perfume that contains oud and do not ask me why:) ... I am at your service for any information about the oud do not hesitate to ask. I love you all and peace..

Have been a fan of your channel for a few years and sent in an earlier suggestion to review Perris Monte Carlo's Oud Imperiale Extrait. Great to see you finally bring it in here. One of my favorite ouds, hands down. Big, powerful, not an everyday scent, except maybe in the coldest weather. I disagree with Dahlia iin that I don't get a strong animalic quality in Oud Imperiale. The EDP is great, but the Exrait version is phenomenal. Here is my take on the Extrait...Where the EDP's top notes include jasmine, cumin, and citrus (from the Perris website), the extrait leaves behind any hint of citrus, and instead blasts off with a gorgeous, smoky and bone-dry cloud of resinous labdanum and cypriol with underlying incense. The heart of oud here is gigantic, but it is not an animalic oud accord by any means. It is deep, dry, and smoky, with a subtle warm leatheriness that wraps you. with the complementary heart notes of styrax and gurjan balsam helping to lift and integrate the base notes of patchouli, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, birch and ambarome.

I thought I was into Oud fragrances for awhile but never realized found any on the market I really like at all. Then I realized that I was mistaking liking Oud for Leather scent when I found Ombré Leather the other day. Now I understand why some leather forward fragrances mentioned in this video that were marketed as Oud fragrances, I liked them.

Great list. Oud Palao is one of my faves. A couple I like to wear that I was expecting to see on the list is Oud Cashmere Mood, which is THE oud from the house in my opinion, and By Kilian Pure Oud.

I Love a good Oud but none come close to the beauty of a (region specific) pure Oud oil. But go down that rabbit hole and it gets deeper , somewhat psychoactive and so expensive. In terms of Oud perfumes, Nicolai Oud Sublime (really special), FMP The Night, Oud Infini (half a spray in the office), Roja Amber Oud, MFK Satin Oud Extrait (soft & sweet). Great work, always interesting.

one of my most favorite presentations by your channel to date! and yes, that has greatly to do with Dalya and the topic at hand - oud, my favorite note. to answer your question regarding ouds not mentioned in this list of yours, I'd kindly and respectfully like to add a few of my favorites, along with what makes them unique. 1- "Pardon" by Nasomatto (superbly and smoothly blended with a hint of bittersweet chocolate), 2- "Oud Tonic" by The Gate (Gin & Tonic in fragrance form), 3- "The Hope" by Thameen (for me, this has a Coca-Cola vibe - no kidding. and I frequently reach for it when I'm wearing just a t-shirt and jeans. a little too James Dean?), 4- "Gold Watan" by Anfas (an actual oud gourmand with a bleu-cheesy note - buyer beware, but I love it), 5- "Blackmail" by Kerosene (bonfire with a hint of sweetness), and two honorable mentions (neither of which is listed on Fragrantica): 6- "Smoked Oud" by OK-Fine (simple, straight forward smokey oud), and 7- "Tobacco, Oud, & Vanilla" by Aaron Terence Hughes (a powerful and unapologetic exploration of its name). thank you, Sebastian and Dalya - and I'm only too pleased that you mentioned one of my most favorite ouds from the Cartier collection, the "Oud & Musc" (it's only one of seven in this superb and for me, a most adored collection the nose of Mathilde Laurent). again, thank you.

Sebastian I am so with you on L'Artisan Parfumeur Al Oudh -- absolutely intoxicating! The cumin adds a savory element that just sends me. I got a bottle last May and had to get another in December because I went through the first bottle just that fast and absolutely cannot be without it.
@hb275174 жыл бұрын
PS Another oud I love is Andy Tauer's L'oudh -- a bit of barnyard at the outset but quickly settles into a rich, dark, dense, leathery oud, immensely evocative (at least for me). Doesn't have cumin, but I think you would enjoy it and maybe Dalya would too. Alas, I only have the tiny-size bottle so cannot spray with abandon as I do Al Oudh.

I always enjoy it when Dayla joins the video~ such a fun pairing, you two! The Night... My husband can't stand Oud or animallics, not even the tamer renditions like TF Oud Wood, but he loves The Night by FM. I'd insert a hands up emoji here if I could. It does smell delicious on him, very spicy yet soft. It continues to surprise and fascinate me how skin chemistry can absurdly change a fragrance. It's like a completely different fragrance on him.

You confirmed my impression exactly! Until now I have avoided anything that promised "leather" but what I sniffed in this one was delicious. You also confirmed my impression that oud, though I had no experience to gauge what aspect of the fragrance it represented, was that enigmatic note that, yes, were it amped up excessively, could be imagined as going outright fecal. My immediate impression was that this was a masterful handling of something that could, done wrong, go very, very bad. Yes, indeed, this one is on my to-get list.

lol "Awoud"... I guess Aoud is the best way to spell but not technically how it's supposed to be pronounced. In arabic, oud is written starting with the letter "ع", if you're interested in hearing what it sounds like, I'm sure you could find a pronunciation video. It's a sound that comes from the very back of your throat. When speaking, pronouncing it as "oud" is actually more accurate than "aoud". Hellooo from Beirut!

Hi Sebastian😎 I was rewatching this list to remember some new ouds to add in my beginning collection. (Another great video by the way!). As a fan of oud, I have some of these fragrances, between them Acqua Di Parma Colonia Oud. So I would like to share with you my thoughts about this particular fragrance to know if you agree or feel something like this. Do you smell something resembling honey from Acqua Di Parma Colonia oud? 🍯 I do! Its chords remind me of the most natural and strangely attractive honey with propolis. • From the opening, I don’t get an “in your face” citruses 🍋. Just enough to lend the Acqua Di Parma DNA to the perfume. Instead, it dissipates very fast, giving room for the beautiful oudy-honey-propolis smell that I talked about, with a rich floral background and a leathery touch in the dry down. Because of this honey-propolis vibe, I believe, Acqua Di Parma Colonia Oud presents to my nose as a slightly medicinal type of oud. Not overwhelming at all. In fact, it’s amazing the way it is. • I think that Acqua Di Parma Colonia Oud is very linear, not in a bad way. It’s blended so perfectly, that its consistent oudy-honey-propolis smell remains until the end. When I close my eyes and sniff it deeply, I notice a floral note standing up, not as a main player. It’s Amyris 🌼, for sure, that I saw in the note's breakdown. Do you feel it, Sebastian? It’s fantastic how this floral note adds richness to the perfume, despite being so sutil. Another thing I notice is some “brightness”. Probably it comes from the coriander seed. As in gastronomy, coriander seeds confers some “brightness” or “freshness” to the recipe. But the leather only presents itself to my nose in the dry down. • To me, Acqua Di Parma Colonia Oud is an opulent translucent nutty-brown honey pouring over a velvety, cracked brown trunk of a tree, in a forest, next to the flowers. 👌🏼 Does it make sense? Thanks, Sebastian. Love your videos!
