Great podcast. If you think the driving sucks in Indo then you haven't been to China. Visualize a five lane highway going one way and the car in the far left lane realizing they missed their exit, so they stop, put the car in the reverse and backup on the highway until they make their turn off. I've been all over the world and can honestly say that the drivers in China are some of the worst drivers anywhere. That said there has to be a lot of surf breaks that are undiscovered and unridden in Southern China. The good news is if you hurt yourself in China you can go to a modern hospital and buy a ticket for less than 50 cents to see a doctor. If you need to see a specialist to set a broken bone it might cost you $10. The downside is most doctors don't speak English, but you can get patched up good enough to get you back home. I wish the WSL would hold events at better spots. The waves are too small at Trestles.

Fyi, they measure the big waves using shin bones. They figure out the length of the rider shin bone and multiply it to “measure” the wave. Saw a short doc a few years back on it. Its some mathematician/ scientist who does the measuring.

The indo guy that snapped on Eli probably knew that youre not supposed to move people in that situation, you always wait for medical personnel to handle it because you move somebody with a neck injury and you can paralyze them! Only reason you should ever move somebody is if theres a serious risk like a car on fire or if their body is in a bad spot on the road like a blind curve where they could easily be hit and even then you should try to find a way to maybe get on the other side and stop cars instead of moving them

WSL finals format is better now. 2 major criticisms,; there should be a trophy for the ladder leaders going in to the final and then the championship trophy going to the winner on the finals day. Acknowledgement of both consistency throughout the year as well as acknowledgement for best on the day. The best surfers will win both crowns. GET RID OF TRESTLES AS THE FINALS VENUE, it is lame!!!. Pipe for finals is the ideal.

Ive ridden street bikes for five years since the age of 16. Ive ridden 1000cc sport bikes. I refuse to ride a moped. They are death traps the small diameter tires dont generate much centripetal force the brakes are undersized the center of gravity because of the riding position is too high. Save yourselves

Hey im know im late to the party as this was about ten months ago but couldnt agree more with Koa's point re lack of fire 🔥, yep theyre all friends on tour but competition is competition. Im old school at 57 years of age and grew up through my surfing grommet-hood watching the cultural differences, the rivalries, the shit talk and the occasional bit of biffo.
