Heated propagators are said to offer faster and more successful germination. So, in order to test out this theory, I have purchased my first electric heated propagator, a Stewart 52cm model (This is a model I purchased myself and I have no affiliation with Stewart or any other company who manufacturers propagators)
In this video I show you what my initial thoughts are from unboxing to setting the Propagator up ready for use.
This channel will help you to learn new techniques for growing fruit and vegetable in a garden or on an allotment and provide some recipes for how to use all of this wonderful fresh produce!
I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions or comments in relation to Allotments, Gardens, Vegetables, Fruit, Recipes or any related issues then please leave them below. I will choose a few questions to answer in future videos, so you may get a mention!

Thank you very much for your comment Kevin. Yes, I must admit, I’m pleased with mine, it helped me a great deal last year when I first bought it. £30 is a good price. I paid £43 but I’ve seen them advertised as high as £75 so it pays to shop around. Kind regards. Gary

Should be waiting until atleast early to mid Feb to start tomatoes or chilis in the UK, so you get them germinated that early.. they are just going to stretch and become weak because the sunlight isn't strong enough and the daylight hours are far too low, promoting leggy weak growth, I know they need a long growing period but starting too early is literally one of the worstbthings you can do

You can get the same version with a solid plastic lid for £36 on Amazon and longacre garden centre, I've never used one so thank you for the video, are they meant to be left on for a few hours or fully on for full day until you see first growth ?

Thank you for the message. Yes, you can get them for a range of prices so it is always better to shop around. Mine cost £43 but I’ve seen them slightly cheaper elsewhere as well as much more expensive, It depends on the outside temperature. As I was using mine in February, March and April I left mine on all day, but in warmer months you might only need to put it on of an evening and through the night. Thanks for the positive comment which Is greatly appreciated. Kind regards. Gary

Thank you for your comment Ian. I try to be as cost effective as I can and only show things on my videos that most people could also afford and use. Agreed, the Vitapod appears to be very good but as you point out is expensive, £150 for a small one. Some of the more well established KZbin channels use and demonstrate some pretty expensive things which are out of most of our price range. I only want to show and use options that most people can afford on my Channel. The Stewart propagator I reviewed in my video has worked well so I’m pleased with that and looks like it will give me good value for money.

Did you do an update on this propagator? I used the same model this year and my Tom plants have grown but still waiting for the peppers. Did you take out your Tom seedlings as soon as they were high enough. I think I need to pot them on. Thanks Gary.

Thank you for the message Vanessa. You’ve reminded me that I need to do an update video for the propagator which I will try to do as soon as possible. Yes, when the Tons were large enough I took them out and put them in my polyhouse to grow them on. I left my peppers in the propagator a little longer. Kind regards. Gary
