Drakan is one of my favorites too. You might want to try Pirates the Legend of Black Kat as it is similar to Drakan, but instead of a Dragon taking you to new areas, you have a ship. There is a large world to explore, a few quests to go on, and tons of treasure to search for.

This time I would like to nominate Sky Odyssey - this is a flight simulator that isn't too in depth or realistic, it just feels "right". Visually it's showing it's age in spots but there air some nice weather effects. You play as an explorer setting off to find treasures and uncharted islands. I found it refreshing that it wasn't about combat at all, and it has tons of atmosphere.

The PS2 is my absolute favorite console of all time. There were so many fantastic games that came out for the console, such as Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2(2 being my favorite game of all time), Persona 4(one of my favorite games on the PS2), Soulcalibur III, Dynasty Warriors 4, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, the Jak and Daxter Trilogy, and that's just a handful. There are so many more that I didn't mention. One hidden gem that I have to bring up is Disney's The Haunted Mansion. Not based off the movie of the same name, it is actually one hell of a fun game. It's like an action horror game with some puzzle solving, and it has some of the most unique level design I've seen in any game in this sort of genre. High recommendation from me, and it's relatively cheap too. I haven't seen it go for anything above $15-$20.

My nomination for a hidden gem for the PS2 is Fire Pro Wrestling R/Returns. Fire Pro Wrestling R/Returns, along with Fire Pro Wrestling/A and Fire Pro Wrestling/A 2 for the GBA, not only brought the Fire Pro Wrestling series in, more or less, its original form, to the NTSB-U market, but I managed to snag a copy of the game for $8 at a flea market around the same year that it was released in the USA. Also, without that game, you would not have had a few more entries in the series, the much maligned Fire Pro Wrestling for the Xbox 360, and the much beloved Fire Pro Wrestling World for the PS4 and PC.

@@GamingOffTheGrid , I would love it more if the menu was not a dumpster fire. Still, the AI is awesome and, even if you suck at the game, you can still give off a solid wrestling match. There are also literally around 200 other problems with the game that honestly need to be fixed, but if that was to happen, then this game would be the greatest professional wrestling game of all time. Oh, and one more thing, if you can score 8 PS2 controllers, and 2 PS2 multitaps, then you can play up to 8 people at the same time. Finally, I have two other hidden underrated PS2 gems that honestly do not get the love that they deserve and they are Dai Senruaku VII: Exceed, which is an upgraded version of the Xbox released video game Dai Senryaku VII (and, yes, both games are available in the NTSB-U market), and the other one is P.T.O.: Pacific Theater of Operations IV/Teitoku no Ketsudan IV, which is the fourth entry in the classically loved series that began on the SNES/NSFC, and, yes, it is also available for the NTSB-U market. Basically, if you love war simulators, then those titles are solid entries in the genre.
@paxhumana2015
@paxhumana2015 Жыл бұрын
@@GamingOffTheGrid , while the early WWF/WWE SmackDown! games did indeed have a lot more match types, as well as friendlier interface, and an awesome story mode, you simply have a lot more in the terms of customization in Fire Pro Wrestling R/Returns. Moreover, you can (to an extent), also have ring and arena customization, which was something that was not even a thing ins Western market released professional wrestling video games until at least WWE 2K16. Finally, here is a fun fact...the people that worked for the old AKI Corporation, as well as Yuke's Entertainment, BOTH have previously worked on the Fire Pro Wrestling series, and all of them, as well as Human/Spike/Spike Chunsoft, can trace their origins to the NES/FDS title of Pro Wrestling.
@paxhumana2015
@paxhumana2015 Жыл бұрын
@@GamingOffTheGrid , oh, and if you have a Sega Saturn, then a prequel to the Dai Senryaku games that I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, which is called Iron Storm, is also available for the Sega Saturn, and it is a solid entry in that series as well.
@paxhumana2015
@paxhumana2015 Жыл бұрын
@@GamingOffTheGrid , also, a bit of irony, while many people hate the arcade feeling WWE games, the harsh reality is that the people that formed AKI Corporation and Yuke's Entertainment also were former employees of Human, which is the company that founded the Fire Pro Wrestling series, so, in essence, their argument is stupid, baseless, and a lie.

Great list of games. A PS2 hidden gem I just discovered is "Power Drome". Looks like a generic piece-of-garbage futuristic racer at first glance. It's not. It has some of the best designed and interesting tracks I have ever played on, an amazing sense of speed, great characters, tight controls, beautiful graphics, and a great cockpit view. I actually enjoy it more than Wipeout Fusion! And best of all you can get it for $4 bucks on ebay. Buy it! Destroy All Humans really is a fun one--very nice MegaDan! I think I remember seeing previews of Shadow of Rome--but Chris has me really wanting to check this one out. Loved being part of this collab but now I feel like such a jackass for bringing up Maximo after John Riggs already covered it in part 1... Chronik calling out to the look of the system. It really, really did FEEL like a next gen console just off of the design itself. Plus Shadow of Memories/Destiny sounds incredible. War of the Monsters--nice--absolutely adore that game. I said it in the first part. But my recommendation is Ultimate Spider-Man. I dunno if it's considered a "hidden gem", or it's just not discussed as often. But I see people talking about Spider-Man 2 on PS2 all the time, when the topic of PS2 games comes up. But I NEVER hear about Ultimate Spider-Man. Ultimate Spider-Man plays a lot like Spider-Man 2. Open world, same kind of web swinging, random events around the city to do, collectibles, side activities like racing from point A to point B. But, here's the thing. The graphics aged better because it's stylized and more comic book-y and cartoony. It honestly looks great. The comic book aesthetic plays out with comic panels (not still images, everything's still properly animated...just in comic panels) which looks great. There's cameos from other Marvel characters throughout the story. You get to play as Venom at certain points. And overall, I think the games great, and better than Spider-Man 2. I definitely recommend it.

Where are you guys in Iowa...I’m in Davenport and you guys are my favorite channel for retro gaming and I like that your from Iowa...If your interested next spring I could bring my arcade trailer and we could have a retro gaming night...could have a little tournament night...game of your choice...check it out on fb (Falcon’s Pixel Party)...Opened this spring before closing down due to C19...I love your content and I hope you keep rolling it out...

Dude thank you so much! First off glad you enjoy the content. And as far as an arcade trailer, yep! We could get some sort of retro gamer party set up around that for sure. maybe have some other You Tubers come into town etc. Once the dust settles from this pandemic we need to line that up. Thanks a ton man. Cheers!

Gaming Off The Grid I have fb page but I don’t go on fb really at all. Check out some of my videos under Earl Bunch on fb...I don’t have time so I don’t go on it...I only watch you tube and I plan to move my arcade trailer videos there...I’m totally down with you guys getting whatever you want together and I’ll bring the fun...I’ve been a collector for 25 years and it has evolved from that to building games to building a mobile arcade...All for the enjoyment...I was the first guy to build what is now known as the Wallcade 11 years ago...I have been watching all your content since I stumbled on you guys just this month...So thank you for giving me something different to watch...

Dragon quest as a hidden gem this is why i understand people hating that word lol...

Ya it's not really a hidden gem. But we ask folks for their submissions and give them full reign. So if to them it's a hidden gem then so be it. The main point of the collab is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the PS2 and to get others in the retro game community some exposure. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!

6:20 I love this game and hated the remake the original graphics is what makes it special same goes for other remakes it’s called a classic why ruin the classic graphics I need to play destroy all humans 2 and I want to play shadow of Rome so bad also if I was in this video id say genji dawn of the samurai and Tenchu 3 wrath of heaven I really love those too also onimusha series 1,2,3,4 made by capcom like shadow of Rome, also the legacy of kain games are really underrated, bujingai, nano breaker, samurai western, shinobi and nightshade, the 2 castlevania ps2 games, way of the samurai 1 and 2, all these I want to play and the fact you guys named 20 hidden gems but there are still a lot more and all the ones I named are hack and slash games except Tenchu 3 it’s stealth but has swords since it’s ninja but ya it goes to show how big ps2 library is and this just one genre so much hack and slash hidden gems and all the other genres have hidden gems too amazing console still playing it hard today soul caliber 3, dynasty warriors and samurai warriors I’ve been playing a lot lately

Haven't had a chance to play the remake yet. Remaking a game is a fine line. There are examples of it being done very well. The new Tony Hawk remakes for example. In other instances though things should have been left alone. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!

@@GamingOffTheGrid original tony hawk is still better it feels classic even tho it has some issues that’s the point of a classic but I must say this theres barely any ps4 skateboarding games so it’s nice to have it it’s all people could work with that have ps4
