Assalamualaikum. Being an Egyptian that dosent know arabic…I consider your videos very helpful!! at my school I have Egyptians there that don’t like me because I’m the only Egyptian there that dosent know arabic. I am always wanting to talk with them but they refuse. And it is very embarrassing to me that I don’t know arabic even tho I’m Arab. And even if I know a little bit of common Arabic words I am afraid to say them because what if I say them wrong?? so this is my situation here. Thank you very much!! God bless you

Thank you so much for that. I was so confused about اشرب و بشرب ; I thought I was mixing up MSA and Egyptian, but now I've understood it's the difference between "I drink tea" (regularly or habitually) and "I am drinking tea" (now). And also that, as a beginner, that's not a vital difference to be able to make. I feel relieved as the multisyllabic forms like مابتشربش were scrambling my brain!

Question: I noticed that delwa2ty written in Arabic throughout your video has the character for Q in it, like delwaqty. (see 8:12) Is this an archaic MSA spelling? Thanks for the great videos, I'm currently learning al-Fusha & investigating the Masri dialect through your channel
@Linguamid3 жыл бұрын
Good question! in MSA it is Delwaqty or Delwakty , but we pronounce it in Egypt delwa2ty with a (no k/q pronounciation) this is a matter of easing the pronunciation of Arabic words (very common in Egyptian dialect of Cairo)

I love this video! 💕❤️ I'm just learning to read and know nothing. The only thing I would change is I would love to see the Arabic letters a little bigger and written with vowels/diacritics. I'm screenshoting the words on my phone so I can make them bigger. Maybe most of your viewers don't need vowels/diacritics? It would be even better if they were in another color. Also the verb in the sentence could be in another color. I'm big on colors. 😁 Thank you so much for this video. I'll be working on these verbs for a while because I'm a turtle 🐢! 💕❤️👏👏
@Linguamid3 жыл бұрын
this is wonderful and many thanks for your feedback Tricia - it is always very effective to move slowly and turtle-like with a new language (especially Arabic). Great ideas with respect to colors and vowels/diacritics - the main reason I don't include them is not to overwhelm very beginners, but I will figure out a way to include them. Great progress and follow up from your side - You will improve very fast this way.. keep it up 😀

@Linguamid3 жыл бұрын
you are absolutely right - Maharaganaat (festivals in English) is a new form of folk Egyptian songs that emerged in the last 10 years or so - it is wording is based on a young generation terminologies and it is usually performed in unbelievably-fast tempos that even native Egyptian have difficulty to follow - as I mentioned some words are also relatively new or specially made-up among young generation and many of these are not used or even inappropriate to use for daily conversations - This is why I recommend NOT to learn Egyptian from these type of songs
