I have owned several Ram trucks, and still have two. A 2004 Ram 2500 w/ 5.9 Cummins and a 2020 1500. The only issue I have had is on the 2004’s auto transmission ( 48RE). I have to admit those transmissions are only good for about 100k. But never had any of the other stated issues. The 2004 has over 325k miles and no mechanical items replaced other than the trans.

I have to agree with you there. I considered buying one when they first came out but after my last fiasco of a truck purchase (2004 Ford F150 with 5.4 triton 3 valve engine) I will not buy another vehicle in its model year. I believe they made the Nissan Titan XD with the v8 Cummins engine for only 3 years and about half of them had catastrophic engine failures and can’t even get the parts to fix them. Dodged the bullet on that one. Also - all the Ford and GMC / Chevy diesels from 2012 to 2019 used a CP4 fuel injector pump that self destructs causing replacement of the entire fuel system.

These run stock about 250 degrees, way way too hot resulting in engine and tranny failures, sensors failing, computers hoses belts wiring all fail. Put in a 160 stat and get it tuned so no CEL. One has to go all out larger radiator etc. I have 2 radiators in my ram. Run it 170 change the oil 250,000 easy.

2019 ram Limited 5.7 hemi Bought the truck used in Florida with 30,000 miles. Glad I bought an extended warranty. 1st I bought the truck with a bad dash... it was bubbling and peeling. Complained to ram care they replaced for free. 2nd at 37,000 miles the engine took a crap on me. Dealer thought it was a mds solenoid. Upon further inspection the engine was self destructing do to the oil pump Design. Warranty will replace engine with brand new engine. I will upgrade the oil pump for more volume. (Not pressure) the same pump that is in the demon or hellcat. Upgrade the exhaust to prevent the "hemi tick" Hopefully I won't have anymore problems 🤞🏾

I got to experience the issue noted at time 3:28 the spark plugs shooting gallery. I was one of the first F150 owners. Ford told me it was not covered under warranty due to spark plugs being not covered under warranty. I argued that it was not a plug, it was probably an over torqued plug and the cheap aluminum heads stripped out! I had 32,000 miles on it. I had the truck in for a diagnostic at 20,000 miles for a knocking issue. They told me they could not find anything. They settled with me for almost half the cost of the replacement of the head. I sold the truck at 30,000 at a loss.

In recent months I've seen a 2015 GMC Sierra w/ 64k miles, and a 2015 Chevy Silverado w/ 75k miles, both w/ the Displacement on Demand 5.3L engines and BOTH needing engine replacements. The GMC even had an issue w/ the electronic steering system causing it to go 1948 Hay truck as far as steering, HIGHLY unsafe in my opinion.... I'm of the belief actually that MOST trucks, cars as well, produced since the turn of the century have been extremely lackluster in mechanical quality. One COULD point the finger at the manufacturer's, due to their ideology of "Planned obsolescence" forcing people to drive newer, high maintenance vehicles requiring computer upgrades instead of the way it used to be where folks learned how to maintain their own cars and could, and would, work on it themselves.

It's especially disappointing to read of the problems with the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, as this was the last year of that generation. I notice the 2023 and 2024 Colorado models aren't mentioned, possibly because those models are too new to have much of a track record. But I know those Colorado (and GMC Canyon) versions have a 2.7L turbo four that I'm curious to know about. I've heard conflicting reports about the reliability in the larger Silverado 1500. My gut feeling is that the 2.7L turbo-4 also has its share of problems. In any event, from what I've read, that turbo four is not only noisy but also thirsty for gas, which seems to me to defeat the purpose of a downsized engine. We shall see.

I have a 22 and a 13 22 3.8 9 speed 2013 4.0 5 speed although I do have a 24 Pro 4 x interior in my 13 now the Gen 3 seats bolt right into my Gen 2 Much nicer way more comfortable.
@JJsGA22 күн бұрын
@@jimmyjackass1805 I know that. I also own a 24 pro4x. But I feel you didn't fully understand my comment. Gen 2 ended in 21 so OBVIOUSLY it was only 20 and 21 for the 3.8 in gen 2. That also means it's a carry over from gen 2 as I stated. The frame is a gen 2 frame with added refinement and 5 inches added to it.

@@JJsGA Your statement is your statement what' s not to understand I have owned several Frontiers down to the Datsuns. I'm in my 60s I know these trucks front to back nut to bolt. Tell me something I don't know. Cool story though Broski
@JJsGA22 күн бұрын
@@jimmyjackass1805 and yet here we are with you trying to correct me by saying only "only 20 and 21 had the 3.8" as if somehow that invalidates my original comment. Don't care what or how many you've owned, you should have known that powertain came out in the 2nd Gen and was carried over to the 3rd. Don't be a "jackass" about it and just move on. So yeah, cool story "bro"

Electrical gremlins have plagued Dodges for decades. I can atest to that! I will NEVER buy another Dodge truck or any Chrysler product. Horrific resale value, as well. Everybody I know who bought a Dodge regretted it.

It's a bit of a stretch to say the 2001 tundra has issues as the truck is almost 24 years old!

2006 Toyota Tundra here, 255K and still no problems, and not overladen with all this computer garbage trucks don't need. Paid 28K in 2006, and it still appraised for 15K in 2023, that's a decent value, new trucks just cost way too much.

I have a 2019 Colorado. Garbage, it feels like every 2000 miles I have to bring it in for something going wrong. Infotainment has gone twice. Transmission slipping. 3rd ECM. Dash lights randomly go out. And the infotainment goes into dark or night mode even on bright sunny days, which makes it very difficult to read due to glare.

If you buy a Chevy you always buy full size Our 2011 Colorado was crap too engine blew at 130k If I were you I’d get rid of it and get a ford Maverick hybrid 40 city / 33 hwy (All wheel drive too)

2004 Titan, we have one with 220k, runs fantastic. Radiator, that's a wear item. Just catch it early. 2004 Ford F150, just hit 300k with having the phasers replaced, still going strong. The 01 Toyota Sequoia/Tundra, are you kidding? I have one for offroading, 278k, ac blows ice cold, windows regulators are wear items, and that puppy is amazing offroad! It's the limited with full traction system, works great! Ram, yeah those are garbage, engine and tranny issues, the Cummins, great engine if can run the way it needs to run (hint hint) and Jeep, yep that's just another Chrysler failure since they canceled the 4.0 (one of the best engines ever produced). Ford diesels, junk! 6.0 and 6.4, junk junk junk unless you spend 1000's in upgrades and even then, junk! I have a 6.7 now, in a much newer one and I'll never buy another one. Duramax is the best diesel on the road today... STOCK... and before 2012 and DEF crap. Rangers, or Explorer with the 4.0, I've seen over 250k easy...3.0, garbage and dead around 90k to 100k. But decent video, just had to be honest on my personal experience

You would think that these failures would be washed away after all of these years of innovation and progressive design changes, but no. Planned obsolescence at its finest! I'm glad I have my Tundra with over 210k miles and none of these issues.
