I think the expensive plants have gone beyond this. The monstera devil monster, white monster, tri color Thai constellation. Dark anthuriums. Veriagated red congo philodendron are much more expensive than a pink princess of any size.

Not accurate info though, Check out the price tag of Anthurium RVDP, ant. Splendidum, ant. Luxurian, other crossbreeds and hybrids esp. Of dark form anthuriums, Monstera Devil and other new breeds of monstera. Rare orchids, aged japanese and chinese bonsai. Compare them with the price tag of the plants mentioned. Huge huge diff. In the plant market community these are not considered expensive. While the pink princess used to be, it is regular priced plant at this point.

I think big sizes (1 meter and above) are still expensive, short & small versions are in serial production for 15/20 usd.

I'm not too sure what's up with this video. There are philodendrons like the veriagated red congo that are far more expensive than a pink princess. We sell small ones on 4 oz cups for about $125. That devil monster monstera sold at auction for 40k I believe. Veriagated Burle Marx Philodendrons are selling for about 18k. Not sure where they got the info for this video, but it seems pretty dated.

Not accurate. Most of these plants are common or already common or affordable at this point and some were never really considered expensive relative to the price tag of mid tier and high end/luxury plants. Sancti and pink princess esp are no longer that pricey compared to the variegated billitiae and much more to the dark form anthurium hybrids like RVDP and its offspring night dragon, luxurian and its hybrids, AOS hybrids, splendidum and many more new breeds of anthurium. There is also that monstera devil which became a craze in 2024. Dont forget about those aged japanese and chinese bonsai and rare orchids like the shenzhen nongke and ghost orchid. You can see updates on pricey plants from enthusiasts like onlyplants. Plant people would also know about the biggest plant market like nse for example. Their price tags will not lie about what are the real gems in the plant community. Wish i can mention more references but UJUB deletes mentions of popular sources and br@nds as they are deemed promotional.

and you'd need THOUSANDS of plants in your house to measurably do any kind of 'air purifying'. that whole 'houseplants can purify your homes air' is a crock, based on a gross misrepresentation of a one time study on plant's ability to remove formaldehyde from air. the results were most unimpressive. but not unexpected to see that claim repeated here.....

this rating by price video is just completely inaccurate. more like a video made just for the sake of making a video. some people just like to hear themselves talk, mebbe? pink princesses are now cheap. same for gloriosum, verrucosum, alocasia dragon scale. none of these are 'truly collector's items' simply because they're widely available to almost anyone. making them by definition NOT a 'collector's item'. this is all just propagating the whole 'status mentality' nonsense surrounding houseplants. pity....
