thirst was very good. definitely a modern, feminist take on a vampire story and the fact that it doesn't all happen in europe is even better

I’ve heard good things about shred sisters, the author is Patti smith’s editor, but I’ll be waiting for your review before deciding whether to read it

I have Shred Sisters from Netgalley and want to get to it. I've read some of Jami Attenberg and am not sure you'd like her fiction. I would recommend you start with All This Could Be Yours. It's a family drama. Several of these sound very interesting. I agree that it's hard to read about M.E. When I deal with it every day, books that focus on it/feature M.E. tend to add to the exhaustion and can cause a reading slump for me. Opus sounds very interesting. I listen to Dark Money by Jane Mayer, which infuriates me as an American. Another great list!

Looking forward to Nobody's Empire! It doesn't come out until Jan in Aotearoa sadly :(( Although the content will be dark in places, I'm hoping like all of Murdoch's work, it will be balanced with sweet melodic undertones

i read ROOM FOR A STRANGER by melanie cheng and enjoyed it. i do think her work borders on the twee like you said, but still filled a need i had at the time. also fun fact: she’s a GP.
