WOW!! You just convince me to get a few of them to upgrade my yard sale guitars!!!!

I bought one of these a while back and all I can say is that it’s awesome. Blows my Mexican ceramic pickups away. Mine has the Alnico 5 pickups and that is what you want IMO.
@danstheory41643 жыл бұрын
The electronics is pretty shit though, pots and selector feels cheap as hell. Definitely needs shielding because it's quite noisy. But the tone is amazing, already ordered a quality wiring harness to replace the cheap ones.
@danstheory41643 жыл бұрын
@off spec im not really good in soldering, but soldering pickups is still doable. I soldered the pickups with the wiring kit(not sure what cap value), 250k pots and copper shielded the entire cavity and pickguard. So much better than my stock squier ceramic pickups, and it's almost dead quiet even when using distortion.
@steveryczek21985 жыл бұрын
I bought one of those. I wanted the off white pick guard mostly. The pickup covers say alnicoV on them and sound pretty good but I had Texas Specials,so I didn't need the pickups. I wound up selling the pickups on CL for $30-still got the electronics in a Baggie . All in all I came out ahead on that deal......for once. Well worth what you pay for it. The Chinese seller even sent me an e-mail profusely thanking me for my purchase.....All that for $22...BTW..regular strat pickup covers aren't interchangeable with the ones that come with this pick guard......the magnet holes don't line up.

Thanks for the review. I recently bought the same one for my squier, but haven't installed it yet and I was curious about the sound. It sounds amazing!

Alnico V is a very underrated pickups, wired it with right pots and right caps and resistor and your own treble bleed settings. I have these in my strat. It's a cheap killer and i put 10's a fat tone!
@colaboytje5 жыл бұрын
Alnico V isn't a pickup. It's a magnet. No, Alnico V pickups are not underrated. All Fender Pickups for strats have alnico V magnets. It's hard to find alnico 3 or Alnico 2 based pickups. You'll have to search for boutique pickups if you want those.

colaboytje the name of that $20 prewired pickguard is Alnico V... made by homeland pickups.
@mikey380sx3 жыл бұрын
@@colaboytje is it? There are plenty of affordable II’s and III’s around. I’ve even seen mixed pickups with three V’s and three II’s in em. Haven’t heard them though so I’ve no idea how they would sound.

@@colaboytje ooohhh. My apologies! In fairness I got confused because you didn’t say it’s hard to find FENDER alnico 3 or 2 based pickups. So I thought you were speaking in generals terms lol.

What did you do to that guitar? Put it on fire? Also, where was the John Mayer part?
@stephenhookings19856 жыл бұрын
Do you recall what pot values for tone? Some folks suggest the 250K log are good compromise for tone. I ordered one of these types of fully loaded pickguards to use on an old squier. I also got some 250k log pots on order just incase they have 500k. I will extend the metal film on pickguard to as to complete the shielding I already have. Thanks for the demo.

All 3 Singlecoil strats always come stock with 250k Log Pots. #Standard
@colaboytje5 жыл бұрын
A 500k pot in a strat would sound harsh, and frankly horrible. 250k is the standard.
