I’m so excited to garden this year..last year in Texas it shot up to 100 degree plus days starting in May I believe. It was oppressive and I couldn’t even garden in the early morning because of the humidity. Here’s hoping for some REASONABLE weather and some fun harvests! Thanks Jag!

Good luck with your garden. We hv 93 temp on Monday but 63 high on Thursday 😒 I'm only sampling with few seeds until temps get stability. 2 of 7 marigold seeds sprouted. None of 4 bell pepper ☹

I am in Australia,in the western state. We are entering our Autumn and whilst we are still very warm 33degrees Celsius. I have a raised bed and I am in the process of bringing in the winter vege. I have already grown some tomatoes and Capsicumms duting the summer.I would like to grow Potatoes,capsicums tomatoes and lettuce. If possible white onions as they are very hard to come by. I do understand that they take some time, can I plant them close to my potatoes? I am a new gardener, especially as to the raised bed concept.During our summer they are in the sunlight, I do not know the sun in the winter. What I really want to know is what I can plant without resorting to adding to straw etc: to the bed and that before I can plant anything in my bed. My reasons are that as a pensioner I cannot outlay a lot of money to receive nothing in return. I have a bin that I keep all of my Vege scraps in,can I dig them into the garden just a few days old, I hate the smell of Vege rotting. I have a bin in which I put all of my scraps into, but it starts to break down within a few days, can I dig these into my garden, even after I have planted some Vegetables. I look forward to your answer.

I live in MN (zoom 4 I think ) we can’t plant until May 15 , but when would be a good time to plant tomato seed in side ? March is usually we get lots snow and April is still really cold! use to be but we are having different weather this year so can’t tell 🤷🏼‍♀️

You really can’t go by zone for planting, only by last frost date. I am zone 7b but my last frost date is after May 15th till June 1. Many other gardeners I know in the same zone have much earlier last frost dates. They are different and mean different things. Zone has more to do with lows and highs of your area that a plant can’t withstand. Zone Determines if it’s a perineal or annual in your zone.

Thanks for pointing this out. That's why I also state frost date in the video. For example, plant this after your last frost, or sow these seeds 2 weeks before your last frost.

You are awesome. I hate lengthy forever talk videos!! And your videos are focused and informative. I also like to share an experience with you which might encourage you to make a video and share recommendations with us. I have bunch of Eucalyptus trees outside of my property (can not cut them or burn them!) and sever tree root invasion inside my wooden and Birdies raised beds (I have 20 of them). Digging a trench around the property is not an option (my land is not flat). Commercial weed barriers do not work either (I tried and failed!). I am researching galvanized steel, corrugated sheet metal panels, and Aluminum flats, but these metal panels have the maximum wide of 4 feet and I need 4.5 X 4.5 feet. I am desperately seeking your advise. Thank you.

Linseed oil? We are talking about Eucalyptus tree roots invasion! Linseed oil definitely does not work. Please note, I need a solution for raised beds bottoms. @@DaisyCreekFarms

I planted kale, brussel sprouts, spinach, peas and swiss chard. Last week, I don't know if it was possum/ squirrel or some other creature that ate all my plants and left my garden bare ... leaving me depressed. I also see two burrows in my vegetable garden. How do I handle this😟? How do I assure this does not happen in future ? I want to plant again and don't want my plants eaten away like this. Please guide.

Moles or gophers if you see burrows or tunnels. There are two ways you can tackle this. 1. put a wire mesh screen at the bottom of your garden then add soil on top. 2. Use snare traps in their holes, unfortunately this kills the moles or gophers :(

Trimming is not required. You can just add soil. Trimming and then adding the soil may make the trimmer branches come in contact with the soil and may introduce disease.

Vinegar washes through the soil quickly, so don't count on that as a logical solution to acidify.

Unfortunately, the tips don't work well for the south east, where we more than likely will go from a late frost hitting, to extreme heat and humidity in the same week! I take my chances with potatoes and onion sets the end of February. I start the cabbage also.

Direct seed a week before your last frost or right after your last frost date in your region. My last frost in zone 9 is Mar 24, so I direct seed these from Mar 20 to April 10.
