Another wonderful video. FYI there is a good tire repair shop on Inuvik which has lots of used tires available. We ruined one tire on the way north and purchased one to keep our 2 useable spares. The tech identified the shale as Rock River Shale and said the zone is about 150 km long. We had two flat tires simultaneously on the way south but both could be plugged on the truck, an F350 with a slide in camper. All tires were heavy duty AT designed for rugged off road use. The tech also said he had patched or replaced every brand and size made. In spite of the tire problems this was a wonderful part of our trip.

We have been there. Very nice shop but spendy and rightfully so. Not easy getting those tires up there.

Hi guys, Wow did that hail break anyone's windshields or dents? Love those small villages and towns.. I see the fireweed is almost to the top meaning winter is on it's way. We only have 10 more days before our summer is over and the cooler weather arrives. The mountain and rivers are beautiful. Another wonderful video. Both of you stay safe and of course HAVE FUN Your friend James

We were the only ones that went into the storm. As soon as the hail hit we told everyone to stay back. Luckily no damage although ghosts it sounded horrible. We are absolutely looking forward to some warmer temps up here 🤣

Hi, love your videos. If you could include the date when the video was taken that would be awesome. It helps put things in perspective in terms of weather conditions for those of us that haven’t traveled in the North Yet. Edit: i just noticed the weather map in the video and it shows July 2023. That’s helpful.

Great video! I wonder if you would give your perspective on rig selection for a 10 week trip to and through Alaska (from Colorado). Due to budget of about $65k, I'm debating between a used F350 gas pickup with a truck camper or an F150 towing a TAB 400 by NuCamp. We'd want to drive the Dempster, Top of the World Highway, etc and boondock as much as possible. I'm concerned that towing a trailer will be very limiting in our quest to find spots with beautiful solitude. Would you be willing to share your thoughts? Thanks!
@WingsandWheelsAlaska8 күн бұрын
Personally, we would always recommend a camper over towing on a trip like that unless you were dropping the camper near the beginning and then tent camping or hoteling the majority of the route. Pulling a trailer along the remote dirt roads has a lot of risk involved.

Do you have to leave all firearms at home in order to enter Canada?
@WingsandWheelsAlaska8 күн бұрын
There is a process you can go through but we travel without if we are entering Canada (we left ours in Fairbanks with a friend during this trip). Just a big hassle for a very short time passing through.

Very much enjoy your videos . With this I am not trying to be disrespectful to you . But I must say as an animal lover , your dogs are beautiful and I’m sure they get a lot of exercise. But they are quite under weight . My veterinarian always said you can feel a dogs ribs , but you should never see the ribs and should be fed at least twice a day . Sadly it has become increasingly difficult for me to watch .

Hi Kelly. Both pups are at their appropriate weight according to our vet. Ember was rebuilding her weight on a diet prescribed by our vet since she had surgery about a month prior to this trip. Both dogs visit our vet regularly here in Alaska :)
