This movie is such a masterpiece - one of the most imitated films in history. We have a brilliant tag line, brilliant story line, unique monster with even more unique life cycle, great acting, fantastic visual effects and soundtrack. Even its original trailer was brilliant
@guybroyles483 жыл бұрын
It was very influential for sure, one of the most ever in film history. Heck, it created the sub genera of sci-fi horror.

Great movie but I wonder why the majority always calls the chestburster scene "the scariest moment". It was creepy but Dallas, Parker & Lambert and even Brett deaths were scarier in my opinion. Overall, the soundtrack and the "no sound" moments made this film superscary too. Ridley Scott did a brilliant job here
@enestahirovic33564 жыл бұрын
For me it was the Alien snuggling in the crevice near the end, when Ridley is ready to go to bed. It's just camouflaged too well!

The Mr. Fusion prop was built out of a commercially available coffee grinder. Specifically a Krups 223A Cofina Super Coffee Grinder.

If you look closely you can see that in the movie it is supposed to be a coffee grinder as well. There's a somewhat futuristic coffee machine next to it and bunch of coffee cups above it.

I'm in minority but I love all Alien films. This is my favorite movie series. Alien & Aliens are the greatest of course but Alien 3 was great too. It has introduced the best thing about xenomorphs - they take features of their hosts. Nowadays every Alien-based movie, game, novel uses this idea. Resurrection gave us a Newborn creature - still fresh idea! Prometheus was underrated. It would be better if they left all deleted and some alternative scenes. Covenant is the weakest but Neomorphs looked awesome

Incorrect. The Xenomorph is only hanging from the chains in the Parker scene in the directors cut, it is removed for the theatrical cut.

I'm pretty sure Ridley Scott went on record that his Xenomorph would never meet with the Yautja cause they ARE not in the same universe he had visioned.
@Cannon8X4 жыл бұрын
Yeah but he also envisioned the prequels, so I wouldn’t say his opinions or taste are always the best.
@cooltrainervaultboy-394 жыл бұрын
@@Cannon8X yeah, the more I think about it, who really created the Xenomorphs? In AvP they're hunted by the Predictors as far back as humanity's prehistory, but the Alien prequel movies suggest David was the one to create them thousands of years later.
@Boris_V4 жыл бұрын
@@cooltrainervaultboy-39 Ridley Scott absolutely hates every movie after Alien 3 (I agree with him) and was disappointed by Alien 3 as well. Although there is no official canon for the Alien franchise, for Scott only the first 2 movies are canon. After Alien Resurrection, him and James Cameron started working on Alien 5 which would be the story of where the Aliens came from and how they were created (which later became Prometheus) and it would be an attempt to save the franchise. However Fox studios then came up with Alien vs Predator which made Scott and Cameron absolutely furious. They decided to drop the whole Alien 5 idea and were convinced the AvP would kill the franchise. That's also why there are no Aliens in Prometheus because Scott considered the creature dead and didn't want to make any movies anymore with the creature in it. It's only because he noticed after Prometheus the fans did still want more Alien that he changed his mind and added the creature back in the sequel of Prometheus (Alien Covenant).

The chestburster, and a load of offal and stage blood was actually 'fired' through a prop John Hurt chest with bungee cords, Hurt being under the table with only his head and arms visible. The tendons visible on the xenomorph's jaws were shredded condoms, and the drool was KY Jelly. Some of the consoles on board the Nostromo can be seen in 'The Empire Strikes Back', in the Cloud City control room, just before Darth Vader smashes the huge observation port. Also, every control on the bridge set of The Nostromo, was wired up to something, so if anyone flicked a switch, a light would come on at the very least. Two models were made of the 'Narcissus' (the name, like 'Nostromo', came from books by Joseph Conrad - although the full title of the one with 'Narcissus' in it is now deeply troubling.), one made to realistic dimensions, and a very odd looking squashed up one, used in forced perspective shots. The poster tagline, "In Space, No-one Can Hear You Scream" was created by the crime writer Christopher Fowler, now famous for his 'Bryant & May' detective novels. At the time, he was working as a screen publicist.

The Sulaco was also from Joseph Conrads "Nostromo", it's the name of the fictional port where the story is set.

I actually DID catch the Mr. Fusion prop in Back to the Future, for some reason that shape stuck out to me, but then I've always over-analyzed movies, especially sets and props, because if you pay attention you'll see the same stuff being repurposed or just flat out reused in other productions. It's kind of cool when you spot something like that, especially when a KZbin video confirms you were actually RIGHT ;)

The casual attitude to sex, is referred to in a deleted scene where Ripley voices her suspicions about Ash to Lambert. She asks Lambert if she's slept with Ash and Lambert replies that she hadn't and that he "Just doesn't seem interested."

11:04 Ash might not have... er... usable genitalia, but if the point is to keep his android identity secret, you'd figure the men would see each other in the shower or whatever they have at some point, and you'd want him to have normal-looking naughty bits to keep the illusion. 11:09 Why does he need to be in hypersleep otherwise?
