I love how these small changes make a huge impact! The 5-5 rule and the 'don’t put it down, put it away' habit are simple but so effective. It’s amazing how much calmer and more organized my space feels by just giving everything a designated spot and tidying as I go. Definitely going to try out a family calendar too!

You cannot clean if things are in the way. Each evening have a five minute pick up time for the family. Before you go to bed collect the rest of the clutter in a laundry basket. Dump the basket in a designated BOX and keep it somewhere out of the way like the garage or laundry room or basement. If something is missing send the family to the BOX. They will soon learn that if it’s not put away it will be in the BOX. Blessing is that you wake up to an uncluttered home. Also, when it’s time (Saturday morning?) for your child to clean up their room, do it with them when they are young and slowly pull away. When they say they are done go in with your basket and pick up the rest and dump it in the BOX. No fighting, just simply say “Did you look in the BOX?” You will soon find out what is important to them and eventually donate the rest!

I heard about a rather wealthy gentleman who decided to sell EVERYTHING he owned, including his home( not sure about a vehicle). He said he felt like the weight of the world was off his shoulders. I believe he used the money to travel and enjoy his life. I was envious

How did you get your husband and children on board. I have 3 children under 5. My husband and children are v messy and love clutter and hate parting with things. I get overwhelmed and can’t relax when the house gets messy but my husband says he doesn’t notice or care. They can literally drop things on the floor and if I didn’t pick it up, it would live there! 😭 I have to sneak stuff out the house to declutter, but then they get upset.

I think it helps to share with them how it makes you feel. How clutter stresses you out, how getting rid of stuff means you'll have more time together. I found the more I did declutters, the more they started to pick it up too. But even if they don't, you can still declutter your own stuff or things they don't care much about, like kitchen items maybe.

@@madelinehegedus thank you for replying. I’ve tried to explain to them but my eldest has only just turned 5yrs and thinks everything is a treasure to her, I literally find rubbish in her drawer, she also has a memory like an elephant and remembers every toy ever given to her by who and when. I’ve tried explaining to her that by giving away some toys we are helping other families… she’s a very caring child so she gets this but the few she’s willing to part with is a drop in the ocean. But my husband is the worst he keeps EVERYTHING and has thousands of books, and would never have a kindle . I have gotten rid of everything I’m able to I used to have a whole dressing room but now just s single wardrobe, I could get pretty much my whole wardrobes worth of clothes in one load in the washing machine.! With 5 of us my house still feels so full. 🫣send help! I would love to go on that tv show where they put all your stuff on in one warehouse! Xx

I was in the same situation as you. I decluttered my parents home first ( it was much needed) I got lot of hate & tears were shed. Next I decluttered my stuff in my house diligently. Then moved to my husband's junk ( treasure ) drawer. I threw his worn out belt of probably 20 years. He fought .But he finally caught the de-cluttering bug when he saw my side of the wardrobe neat & his junk side. I didn't give up. Next I moved to my 5 year old son's stuff. At first he didn't throw his broken toys, but made him throw wrappers, boxes & artwork which aren't special. Sometimes I have to ask him 3 times to throw his toys, he won't but atleast he is able to throw his worn out clothes. So don't relent & be strong. Wishing you luck 👍

@@horseygirl966 I hope I dont overstep and if so please excuse me, I just dont understand: Does he not care about the fact that its essentially his fault you are stressed out? 😮 I feel like the way you describe this yall really need to talk about it and try to find a solution because you suffering is not it😢

Your content is so high quality - I totally thought it was a channel with 100k+ subscribers (although I'm sure you will get there!). Love the minimalism journey - very inspiring. On a sidenote went to Suceava recently and had a great time - I'm sure I will go back to Romania again from the UK!
