I feel so bad for everyone else in the comments saying they're parents would never let them go to a pride event. I'm going to my first ever pride event in two days, not even 4 days after I came out to my family. Im super excited to go and I hope that some day everyone else will be able to go to one too. Thank you for the tips! ♡︎

Reminder that pride events are NOT white only! Queer POC, specifically black trans women, are the reason we celebrate and honor the fighters of Stonewall in June, and they've always been and continue to be some of the strongest warriors in the fight for LGBT+ rights ✊🏻🌈 Honor queers of color, do not exclude them

just tell them your friend Dorothy wants you to come along ;) just kidding, take your time with coming out as you wish, and either tell them that you want to support the community as an ally or go with friends that are out and say you're their emotional support. good luck!

Well here's what I'm doing A pride event happens every year in my home town in Nevada. One of my childhood friends is getting married soon. I can simply tell my dad I'm going back home to either visit for the wedding or just to see how she is doing while also going to pride. Paying for a hotel won't be an issue can I either stay with my mom or my cousin. My dad would never know the whole truth why I'm going home. My mom and cousin are both down there so he would just think of it as a regular visit.

@PoweredByRainbows3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! We actually covered both of those topics before on the show and they are included in this playlist linked here. The first episode on the playlist helps you figure out your sexuality and gender and the following episodes help you come out. This is a great video. It’s amazing how much conversation you can get just by asking questions. I’ve been to a few pride events and they are cool. I admit, however, that these days SO many people show up at my local pride event it gets a little overwhelming. I’m more likely to watch it on tv!

Is there any dislike or anything like that for very straight people to go to these events? I used to be a POS hater because I didn't understand, or accept, that everyone is still a human. I've grown and now I find tons of joy in learning about new people and cultures; though I do need to hide it from my Boomer gen dad who is exactly like you think.

Always read up on any restrictions the event you’re going to has on what you can bring. Unfortunately, mine doesn’t allow for bringing my own water, but I am allowed to bring a water bottle. And umbrellas no bigger than a golf umbrella??? Seriously??? Golf umbrellas come in a wide range of sizes, so how do I know if they have a specific size in mind? How do I know if my umbrella is too big? I don't until I get to the gate, that's how. Kind of dumb, if you think about it. If you don’t want a certain size of umbrella into the event, just specify what size is the maximum allowed with numbers! Is that so hard?????
