If you're sitting in a bus or train and the seat next to you is empty, sit in the outside (aisle) seat. If someone wants to sit next to you, offer them the window seat so you're not trapped. If they don't want that, too bad. They can move on. If someone insists you give them your phone number or any other info, firmly say "I don't give out personal information to strangers, no exceptions. " Repeat 'no exceptions' like a broken record if they keep asking and you can't walk away immediately. Quit assuming because someone is larger, that you are powerless against them. There are many sensitive spots on the human body. Educate yourself on simple self defense techniques and carry a taser, pepper spray, or other legal weapon that can be deployed at a distance. If you have a pocket knife, keep it in your hand if you're walking by yourself. Don't be afraid of hurting someone's feelings or causing a scene. If a person is on the up and up, they will respect your boundaries. Well lit spaces, populated areas and busy streets are your friends. Stop traveling on side streets, shortcuts and stop sitting in deserted spaces/empty cars. Pay attention to your surroundings!!!! If it doesn't look/feel right, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! *steps off soapbox *

I hate how parents disregard their children's feelings and downplay the severity of a situation they've been in smh !!!
@girlwithoutafairy4 жыл бұрын
Are you a parent? Think about having a kid who's been through something like this. You have 2 options. Acknowledge the severity of the situation which will further increase your child's paranoia afterward or try to comfort them by "downplaying" the severity. The parent and the child both will still know how severe the situation was. It's not a denial of what happened. It's an effort to calm your kid down so they can realize they're safe now.
@sarahlockhart91844 жыл бұрын
Im a parent here, totally understand what you are saying. But at the same time that also makes the child feel like they are alone and that you dont have their back. They need to know the severity of situations so they dont make the mistake of downplaying future situations which will have horrible consequences. Take that opportunity to teach them on what to do and how to better handle things and themselves.

No one has a right to downplay a situation of another person that is visibly scared. Trust me, being a woman is frightening. I need to inform any women listening to this that keys between your fingers will hurt you more than it will hurt a potential attacker. Please don't do this. Now, on the other hand if you have a large key chain, you can hold onto that and swing the keys into your attacker's face. A pair of steel-toed boots are good for kicking shins if you can't reach the balls. You have a set of nails. Imagine digging them into the attacker's bones. You won't actually, but you will scratch much more deeply than if you only think of scratching their skin. Same with biting. Also, it may be tempting to use a knife, but that can be taken from you easily. Save knives for when you're down on the ground and he's up close.

@kat.w.RBF4444 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this post. Just last week I was telling women I know the same thing because it’s a common misconception that you can do the keys between the knuckles thing. You’ll just stab your own palm. You’d be better off holding the key like a knife and slashing or stabbing. There’s a video on YT from a karate instructor that shows you how. Also, like someone else said, go for the eyes or the throat. Ears rip off rather easily too. Stomping on balls will buy you some time as they writhe in agony. Make sure you’re always aware of your surroundings, and don’t fumble for your keys when walking to your car or home. Get your keys ready before you leave anywhere. Also, I’ve heard from a former policeman, instead of “help”, yell “fire”. I’m not so sure about that one, but in my opinion, if you can fight for yourself, you’re better off than doing nothing and hoping a bystander gets off their ass to help. That’s a bonus you shouldn’t count on.
@WitchVine4 жыл бұрын
@TheCatsMeow PrettyHorses Well, if there are any men putting keys between their fingers, they can put two and two together from what I've written. However, the vast majority of people doing this are women, as most men think they'll be fine with their own fists or a pocket knife for protection (there are problems with that too, but they weren't brought up in the video, so I had no reason to address them). Thus, my comment was addressed to women. If men think that because my comment was addressed to women, that men will magically be okay to use keys between their fingers, then I really can't help them.
@WitchVine4 жыл бұрын
@TheCatsMeow PrettyHorses Female bones have lower density than male bones. Women also have less muscle mass and less upper body strength. We're better swimmers, better climbers, we have better immune systems, and we're more likely to survive famine. So you're correct that we are not "weak", but no, the force of our punch is not the same as men's. Doesn't mean you can't use your body in other ways to defend yourself (knees and elbows, finger jab, teeth and nails, etc.) but a woman relying on punches against a male attacker would not be a good idea.

Under EXTREMELY rare conditions, like late night trains running on smaller branch lines, pacer trains will not stop at stations. They'll just roll slowly through the stations, if no one's on the platform or if no one bought a ticket for that stop they'll just keep going, and if you wanted to get off a stop earlier you'd prolly need to let the guard know. This is like, a VERY rare occurrence though, and this is my really struggling to think of a situation similar to the one described.

After I have him the information he just said "okey your soul will be eaten tonight" and walked away. That's not even the fucked up part after I arrived in my home town around 01:34 I walked of the station and crossed a couple of streets i noticed that that fucker was following me, so this time I was panicking because I live like a 5 minute walk away from the station, so I was already pretty close and I didn't want him know where I live. So I dicided to run to nearest shop, luckily he lost me or something. I honestly don't want to know what happened if I didn't noticed him.

@b.lonewolf4175 жыл бұрын
Well, that probably has a lot to do with why these people have these stories to tell in the first place. If a pushy or creepy guy starts messing with someone, only for their target to IMMEDIATELY shut them down in a completely fearless and confident manner, there's no real way for a "scary story" to develop. On the other hand, if someone is fearful or timid or subservient, it's a lot easier for another person to get in their personal space, mess with them, and escalate the situation. Things get prolonged in a way that allows a "plot" to develop and thicken. The end result: A "scary story" to share and eventually get read on KZbin.

Why are people saying this girl who didn’t have coffee is a bi*ch? She was acting aggressive because she was scared, this random dude was being a creep and she didn’t have patience for it. Just because she wasn’t timid about it like most would be doesn’t mean she’s a bad person. She just wanted him to go away.

Some of the girls in these stories tick me off. If you act like a helpless target you become a target. Making “panic eyes” at random strangers isn’t a way to save yourself. Most people looked away not because they are heartless, but because they didn’t know why you were looking at them weird and weren’t aware of what the hell “panic eyes” are. Predators prey on the weak. Don’t make yourself a victim.
@failegion78285 жыл бұрын
Forgot what seriel killer it was but... There is a account of a chick being woken up by some tapping at her window. She ignored it at first thinking it was her bf messing with her. But after a bit she checks it to find a stranger at her window. Annoyed at being awoken the girl begins cursing the guy out and slams the blinds shut. This likely made her appear too much of a hassel to deal with so the murderer moved on. Althrough not always the case, by making oneself a difficult target it may be the difference between being a victim or getting through the event unscathed.

Omg I am so annoyed with the girl that was studying abroad! If you are not mature, you should not have gone! If you couldn’t make friends - it’s not the schools fault! This two girls you tried to get in trouble - it wasn’t their fault you had no $ to change your ticket nor pay for a hotel/hostel etc.. you knew this schools policy ! ( it’s called a job or ask parents for few $) It wasn’t the 2 guys on trail job to be kind and protect you ( would have been nice but it’s not their job) close the curtain yourself! And you woke up people to tell them you are going to the bathroom- and shocker they were annoyed! Omg!! The guy who followed you - singled you out cause you couldn’t stand up to even close the curtain! I know plenty of people who made friends ( for life) and absolutely loved their time in Europe without expecting others to stand up for them! 🙄 Lol rant over! Thank you! Ps thank you for amazing stories!!
