Herrliches Laufwetter in der Hauptstadt Litauens
Für diese Marathonteilnahme habe ich mich für Vilnius, die Hauptstadt von Litauen, entschieden, aufgrund des 700-jährigen Stadtjubiläum sowie die 20. Marathonauflage von Vilnius Marathon.
Zu Recht war das ein unvergessliches Lauferlebnis, zusammen mit meiner Frau, die den Halbmarathon erfolgreich teilgenommen hatte.
Vilnius war für seine Barockarchitektur bekannt, die sich besonders in der mittelalterlichen Altstadt zeigte. Die Gebäude an diesen zum Teil mit Kopfsteinpflaster belegten Straßen spiegeln jedoch unterschiedliche Stile und Zeiten wider - von der neoklassizistischen Kathedrale St. Stanislaus bis zur gotischen Kirche St. Anna. Das konnte man auf der Marathonstrecke sowie in diesem Videotrailer zu erkennen.
Der Vorgängerlauf begann 2001 als 10-km-Lauf. Das Zeitlimit beträgt 5 Stunden 30 Minuten und seit 2004 war ein stattfindender Marathon in der litauischen Hauptstadt Vilnius.
Man konnte zwischen Marathon, Halbmarathon, einer 10-km-Distanz, Marathon-Staffel, einem Familienlauf oder Kinderwagen-Marathon wählen.
Die teilweise sehr hügelige Strecke mit steilen Passagen verlief entlang vieler Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die historische Altstadt von Vilnius gehörte zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe und war die größte ihrer Art in Zentral- und Osteuropa. Sie war geprägt von eindrucksvollen Bauwerken aus Gotik, Renaissance, Barock und Klassik.
Wir hatten ein wunderbares Laufwetter bekommen und die erste Halbmarathonstrecke lief ich mit meiner Frau zusammen, danach im Alleingang, wo dann nicht mehr so voll auf der Laufstrecke zu sehen war.
Ansonsten war für uns ein herrlicher (Halb-)Marathonlauf und natürlich HERZLICHEN DANK für die reibungslose Abwicklung!

WITH THE CITY'S 700TH ANNIVERSARY, A WONDERFUL 20TH MARATHON ANNIVERSARY
Wonderful running weather in the capital of Lithuania
For this marathon I chose Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, because of the city's 700th anniversary and the 20th edition of the Vilnius Marathon.
It was rightly an unforgettable running experience with my wife, who successfully completed the half marathon.
Vilnius was known for its Baroque architecture, particularly evident in the medieval old town. However, the buildings on these partly cobbled streets reflect different styles and times - from the neoclassical St. Stanislaus Cathedral to the Gothic Church of St. Anne. You could see this on the marathon route and in this video trailer.
The previous run began in 2001 as a 10 km run. The time limit is 5 hours 30 minutes and since 2004 there has been a marathon taking place in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
You could choose between a marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km distance, a marathon relay, a family run or a stroller marathon.
The partly very hilly route with steep passages ran past many sights. The historic Old Town of Vilnius was a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was the largest of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. It was characterized by impressive Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical buildings.
We had wonderful running weather and I ran the first half marathon route together with my wife, then alone, where the running route was no longer so crowded.
Otherwise, we had a wonderful (half) marathon run and of course THANK YOU SO MUCH for the smooth process!

I really like Vilnius, I once lived there because this is not my first time running there. Very good organization. I like the course in the Old Town. It’s beautiful.❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍
