They don’t come much cheekier than Tommy. This 20-year-old bank clerk is a self-confessed shopping addict. In the two years since he started working, he’s managed to land himself with a credit card debt of £14,500, a monstrous debt which is eating up his modest take-home salary of £10,000. Tommy’s passion for the high life has plunged him deep into the red.

I nearly never watched this but I am so glad that I did. This is the best episode that I have ever watched. Not only is Tommy likeable but he took on board all the advice and embraced the difficulties in his past with his emotions and how these affected his spending habits. The respect he showed his mom he didn't whine or blame her and his mom took accountability fantastic! I wish him all the best with the attitude and fortitude he showed I think he will go far in life.

Credit card debt and student debt couldn't be more different. Student debt has no interest and you don't have to pay it back until you earn over 15k. Credit card debt has awful interest rates! If you ever need to borrow money, go to the bank for the best rate. All credit card companies are awful. Also back then before torys hiked tuition fees it was rarely over 9k for student debt, now the better the uni the more you have to pay 🤢🤢

It is astonishing how many people don't understand that the money on their credit card isn't theirs and that not paying it in full each month mounts on their debt in a hefty interest. The bank has to make the money somehow and they literally pay the price for those who get a free loan, without any interest. They are the mules. For a shallow feeling of joy from stuff they don't need, running away from negative feelings, they are going to pay a hefty price for stuff they never bought, in those interests.

In one of these videos, the guy from the show is in the comment section chatting with people. Telling them how it all worked out.

Sadly, it is how credit cards work until the bill comes. That’s the problem with them!!

@annalieff-saxby568 Got rid of mine years ago. And I know quite a few older people who have gotten rid of theirs, and a lot of younger people who have just never had one. Smart!

One of the most positive transformations I've seen on this show. He's a young lad but he really seems to have taken everything on board and was really serious about getting rid of his debt and getting a better job to facilitate that. He's done far more growing up in his 20 years than some men twice his age. He also seems to have a lot of love and respect for his mother, and isn't afraid to show it. I hope he's doing well for himself now, wherever he is in his life.

Great turnaround, hope he has stuck with it. I can identify with growing up too quickly (strict, penny-pinching household), then broke student, then spending like a drunken sailor once I started earning a decent salary. Never unmanageable debt but never saving anything. Life is better when you have contingency plans.

He has worse vocabulary than my 5 year old niece and his sister is even more dumb than him...and his mum is fooling no one saying that she is the one who "left" her "partner"....they are the type of family the world doesn't need.

I’ve watched many of these shows lately and I don’t understand why the banks/credit card companies didn’t shut off the cards when people run up debt that exceeds their low incomes.
