On Sept. 11, 2001, Mary Murphy was working as a reporter for PIX11 News. She had requested the day off so that she could vote in the primary and take her son to his first day of Kindergarten.
Instead, she would soon be reporting on one of the most difficult days in the nation's history.
This is her story.

I was at Cawood Elementary School in Cawood, KY when the world stopped turning on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. I was an 8th grader at the time. Oh, and I was 13 years old.

Mary was weekend anchor at WPIX (One of the hottest newsanchors back then, although she had her hair short in the late '90s).
