This doesn't feel familiar to 2003/4 Timberwolves season at all. First of all Garnett-Edwards comparison doesn't work. Garnett was a top-10 player for many seasons and waited ages until the team managed to finally build around him, when they had their first playoff success in a long time. For Edwards situation is different - he's only the 2nd time All-Star, he wasn't even thought as the main man on the team until maybe somewhere last season. As for the same feel because team is having a great season - well, it's still too early to say that. They still easily may end up 3rd or even lower seed in the West, neither it wouldn it be much of a shocker if they lost in the first round to, lets say , surging Mavericks. And it wouldn't be that much of a let down if this happened - their core seems to have quite a several seasons together ahead of them, with still improving Edwards.

Kevin Garnett is synonymous with Minnesota basketball. Rarely has sport captivated this state like it did when Garnett leapt up on the Target Center scorer’s table and pumped his fist on an electric May evening in 2004. That Game 7 home playoff victory over Sacramento still stands as the greatest moment in Timberwolves history, and the defining moment of Garnett’s illustrious tenure in Minnesota.

This is why I don’t get the Gobert hate. The Wolves have the #1 defense in the entire NBA. And Gobert is a HUGE reason for that, just like in Utah. Yeah, you could argue he’s a liability on offense, his defense doesn’t work in the playoffs, blah blah blah. But you can’t IGNORE the impact he has on his team. Why can’t people find other problems on the team instead of just blaming it all on Gobert smh. He singlehandedly made the Utah Jazz a top 5 defensive team every year he was there. Put guys like Anthony Edwards and McDaniels around him and you have an instant top 1 defense. It’s that simple.
