Great video, some really amazing lightning in there, over the past 20 years, fingers crossed 🤞 2025 should be a good year for storm activity across the UK, now the sun has reached solar maximum. In the 1960s, 1990s the best decade for thunderstorm activity in my opinion, and so far in the 2020s, they all had increased thunderstorm activity across the UK, all linked to the sun entering solar maximum, this comment is too long already. Happy new year.

Thank you. Happy New Year. I've had a few good years but to answer your question, 2020 was the top year for me. It depends on location though. I'm sure some people will remember 2020 for there not being that many storms. But I live in the North Midlands and so in the area that saw the most storms that year.

Grate videos what about the massive lightning storms we had in the UK over the past few years, constantly flashing every few seconds like a strobe light.. never used to see them when I was younger but now all the time.. is this some new lightning have video

Thank you. I've noticed the increase in thunderstorms with the strobe type lightning too, but at the same time a decrease in cloud to ground lightning. There seems to be a lot more elevated storms now than before (storms that start forming higher up in the atmosphere). I'm not a scientist but the increase in elevated storms would probably explain the increase in lightning, as a storm that started higher up will probably have a taller cloud top. And generally, the taller the cloud top, the more lightning.
