This man chooses to stay. Not a native of NYC, came here and doesn’t have the resources to thrive. Like it or not this is part of the problem. Homeless by choice.

Thank you for showing the human side of homelessness. I was in an abusive relationship two yesrs ago and i left her and brought a bus back home to Oklahoma. I knew i was going to be homeless, but i found a veteran housing assistance. Now i have my disability sorted out and just bought a 2014 Jeep last week!

Shelter should be a human right. Everyone needs a home. Houses should not be an investment.

Exactly, everyone should have a piece of land and the right to build a home on it, grow food, etc. Governments have taken away the basic human rights of so many people.

As a Puerto Rican, Angel really impacted me. But then I am hypocrite because in Orlando/Kissimmee are Puerto Rican homeless and I pay no attention.
@ResiDent-y8g7 күн бұрын
(I will never read a reply) Nobody cares. If the guy was white, I wouldn't say 'as a white man he impacted me'. The way you're talking right now is why racism exists and why most races look down on black, latino, and arab. The crazy part is you just admitted you're in Orlando, which is part of USA, and you're still acting like you are back in the shithole country you came from.

Some people are just done with dealing with all the hassle of obtaining and keeping a house and therefore job etc.. especially with addictions in play.. it is sad they dont have a more burdon free house, and instead choose to rather stay in the streets.. (not sayi ng this gentleman thinks about it in that way)
@kamikazitsunami8 ай бұрын
Addiction destroys lives but it's caused by an inner emptiness and unhealed trauma. Heal that, and the addiction is easier to fix. Until this, the person is going to be dependent on the generosity of others. But is your money enabling them to stay sick? I'm not an enabler.
@leachville30018 ай бұрын
Dont be so quick to judge from your warm bed and a roof over your head with a shower. If you fonnd yourself as this man you too would drink to make it abit more bearable. Have some empathy. Put yourself in his shoes.

There a lots of people with jobs who are also addicts - especially when it comes to alcohol. Are their employers enablers for giving them paychecks?
@Bay-BGhost2 ай бұрын
Giving someone some food, drink, a smoke, or a few dollars is not enabling anyone. I am 49yrs old. At 23 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and a couple of other neurological things to go along with it. I stopped working at 35. I made really good money, and my SSDI check wouldn't be enough to support me if I were single. I would be homeless for sure, especially in this economy. Luckily I married my best friend when we were young and we own our home, and built a nice life together. I went through a horrible addiction to pain pills prescribed by my doctor because of my MS. So there was no deep down issue I had to overcome, I just had to overcome why our very own govt. knew the HUGE risk of addiction and kept it a secret while getting rich, and then 1 day after being on them for 5+yrs, they just stopped filling them. Most if not all of the heroin, fentanyl addicts today, all stem from doctors, pharmacists and big pharma stuffing their pockets while ruining lives. Everyone has a story, and most are worse than your own.
