This is the real meaning of green driving. Restoring and preserving absolutely fine examples of cars that are already existing, instead of scrapping them and contributing to the rapid excavation of cobalt in 3rd world countries, causing a huge impact on the environment. Well done sir!

Thank you! I am a huge believer in keeping good vehicles going as despite any minutiae related to exhaust-related pollutants, the carbon footprint associated with created new (esp. EV) vehicles is so much larger, it seems obvious to me that that is the issue we need to focus on!

I have heard this before…It’s a tough one. I think if it was a car for myself then I’d leave it alone but as I’ll be selling the car and I want any potential purchasers to have no worries, it seems that I may need to do the gasket anyway. I’d be gutted if I didn’t do it and then it failed some time down the line on the new owner!

Nice clean up, and great relief to see relatively little rusting underneath, professionally sorted as always. Ref the brakes if the disks are new but just rusted, I'd be tempted to put a few miles on the car then have another look. A change of brake fluid would probably be more in order, good luck with the bleed nipples, though, horrid little buggers 😅😅😅

This is a very sound point (& something id usually do as part of the pre-MOT shake down), so I will see how they look at that stage and take a view. They look to me as if they were virtually brand-new when the car was laid up so if theres any justice, they will clean up!

It's a fair question... Ultimately it comes down to hours vs profit and generally if something isn't unsafe or likely to fail in the foreseeable, it takes a back seat in a project like this. Nothing is certain yet though so there is a chance that i could take this thing to the next level and refinish those bits!
