200 Hour Amsoil Service. Deere 915 e. How Good is it?

Just changed the oil in my John Deere with Briggs and Stratton after 200 hours on the same oil that you use. The engine was mostly used for cutting heavy tall grass, so heavy demand on the engine. Really it was overworked many times, yet I never had to add any oil. No problem with oil viscosity. Yes the oil was dark, but the Amsoil has a quality detergent that keeps all metal parts clean. The previous oil had left the dipstick discolored with varnish, but within a few hours, Amsoil cleaned all the discoloration off the dipstick. After 200 hours the dipstick is like new. Never had an oil that works so well. I use it in everything that uses oil, from small engines, vehicles, hiway trucks, dozers, etc.

Kohler put out an extended life oil change kit (25 850 02-S), warranty safe for 300hr oil change intervals. The oil in the kit is blended by Amsoil and the viscosity is 10W-50. These air cooled V twins break down most oils pretty quickly here in south texas especially during the summer when we get 100°F weather for 3 months straight. For what it is worth we run 20w-50 (kawasaki and kohler oils) at the outdoor power dealership i work at and 100hr intervals. Seems most anything else is water thin and pitch black after 40 or 50hrs.

15w40 Amsoil diesel is the real trick. more zinc in it.

Noting that the lowest price on line for the Kohler XL Pro filter is $15.74. Thinking you can get a Purolator Boss PBL10241 or Fram Synthetic Endurance FE3614 for a few bucks less and get filtering performance at least equal, if not superior to the Kohler filter.

I never change my oil because it no longer is doing its job. I tell my customers to change the oil because of the byproducts that are in it. Good video! Thks Rich.

That little fuel filter is as Wix 3011. I know because I sold automotive and truck parts for 30yrs.

I find the air main and post filters at WIX, the fuel filter too,, as well as the oil filter. BUT, if the oil is not getting dark with the contamination from the engine, is it leaving all that crud behind? The contimination should be held in suspension.

ZDDP. The EPA has removed most all of the zinc and another ingredient from automotive oil. It's a must for metal against metal, specifically the cam and lifters.

@@richardflagg3084 I just sent a voa of the 15w50 Amsoil small engine oil. It does not have higher zddp like they clearly state on the product page. Zinc came in at 826 and phosphorus at 727 in line with most PCMO. I sent them a email asking why it's so low when they say it has a heavy dose of zddp but have gotten no response. The voa is posted on bob is the oil guy.

I have 5 John Deere 900 series mowers l use Amsoil 15w50 small engine oil every 100 hrs or Kawasaki 20w50 every 50 hrs both are good oils depends when you want to use as a oil interval it's your choice 😁

I run gravelys. " Kawasaki" engines. Everybody said run only Kawasaki oil lol Kawasaki don't make they're own oil! Citgo makes it and slaps a Kawasaki label on it. And I'm not impressed. I am switching to amsoil. That's unreal how clean your oil is. I'm sure you're doing commercial maintenance. I mow 10 or more yards a day 5 days a week. I need good oil. After doing a ton of research I'm switching to amsoil

Change your oil and filter often. Oil is cheap. Engines are expensive.

Kohler engines with hydraulic valve lifters take Amsoil 10w30 be careful with cheap air filters those China a/c filters can fall apart and go right in your engine l use John Deere a/c filters and fuel filters or Kawasaki fuel filters be careful 😊

Kohler approached Amsoil for this formula because they were having lifter failures. I think they did an outstanding job with this oil. I don't have an affiliation with Amsoil, just want to give my customers the very best. I don't use Chinese products as a rule. OE Donaldson filters are made right here in the good ole' USA. Nothing wrong with saving a dollar if it's apples to apples. They are the manufacturer of the housings. These are made for the small Kubotas all the way up to the big Peterbuilts. Just have to be careful for the ads that say "fits" or "replaces".

Rich small 4 stroke engines are usually prone to fuel dillution. Color itself does not tell us anything, the oil is doing what it was designed to do, disperse and carry contaminants till it gets changed out. Any good quality 30 weight oil will do, overextending the OCI is the biggest problem, once too much fuel enters the oil, its ability to lubricate goes down the hill. I use a well know synthetic brand 5w30 in all my 4 strokes that require a 30 weight oil and the fuel smell at the end if the season is unbelievable. Good point. I may send the oil off for testing next time. Running conventional oil (Deere brand) in the past, the oil had been extremely dark. I know it's just one part of the puzzle.

CLEAN OIL is the key and most important. Mobil 1 sells 15000 Mike motor oil. Would you go that long? No. Same with mowers. Amsoil is good oil but not worth the money imo

I would never go 200 hours between oil changes. And I would never use non OEM oil filters. Every professional landscaper worth a salt knows this.
