Pol roti (පොල් රොටි) in Sinhalese translates to coconut roti, or coconut flatbread. It's a very popular type of flatbread made in Sri Lanka. It can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even as a snack throughout the day. Parippu curry should probably be one of Sri Lanka‘s favorite dishes, served at just about every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parippu means lentils in Sinhalese and Tamil, and it is pronounced “pah-rip-poo”. Despite the cuisine of Sri Lanka‘s strong links with that of South Indian cuisine, it distinguishes itself by the delicacy and lightness of its flavors, as well as an intense but balanced use of coconut milk. Kiribath (Sinhala: කිරිබත්) is a traditional Sri Lankan dish made from rice. It is prepared by cooking rice with coconut milk, hence this name, and can be considered a form of rice cake or rice pudding. Kiribath is an essential dish in Sri Lankan cuisine. It is very commonly served for breakfast on the first day of each month and also has added significance of being eaten for any auspicious moment throughout one's lifetime which are marking times of transition. It is one of the more renowned traditional dishes in Sri Lanka. Honey hoppers are crispy pancakes that are cooked with kitul treacle, a sort of palm syrup. If you are back in Kandy, A typical real home styles 5 star you are missing in Kandy is called Mahaweli Reach Hotel, belong to one of my school buddies from 40 years ago when we were in college together, its a ancestral home with original 4 bed rooms now a beautiful 5 star with over 130 rooms in beautiful setting by the Mahaweli river and just a a scenic hotel and not a high-rise. check out if you can its called Mahaweli Reach Hotel

eating with the right hand (dominant hand) only applies when you're having something that you'd mix before eating like rice. if you're having something like rotti you can use both hands to tear it apart. hope this helps
