You guys were playing a game similar to one we called "Egyptian Rats Screwed" way back in my summer camp days. You each get half the deck and you take turns flipping (you start going faster as you learn so you can try to mess the other person up). Once some flips a face card the other person gets a certain number of chances to get another face card. 1 for jack, 2 for queen, 3 for king and for for aces. If you don't get another face card the other person gets all the cards in that pile. If they do get a face card then the other person has to get another (accord to which face card they put down). You can do sandwiches (i.e. card sequence is a 1 a 3 and then another 1) or doubles if you choose. The game ends when one person has all the cards.
