This video details step by step instructions of how to build a study & sleep loft from common dimensional lumber sizes. Do it yourself and save money, customize, and have fun along the way! Lumber sizes used for construction include:
1X2
1X3
1X4
1X8
2X4
Because dimensional lumber is already at size, only a few basic tools are required for construction, including
Miter saw
Drill
Tape measure
Clamps
Check it out and let me know what you think!

Currently in the process of building this! Legs and desk support done, hoping to wrap the rest up this week. I loved this build as the frame is resting on the 2x4s and bolted. Much prefer the security of you having done it this way versus pocket screws which is what many builds seem to use 😳🤯. Many thanks for posting!

I've looking for a good video on how to build a loft for a long time because all the loft beds I keep finding are either made out of metal (which I rather have wood because I think it would be easy to take care of and take down if I need to) or they were outlandishly expensive. I'm really going to consider this in the future when my family moves

You are thinking about it the right way - ie - how to fit 2 lofts in one room vs. trying to make them fit - LOL / You'll have unlimited options w/layout so don't hesitate to think outside the box. Definitely google "2 lofts in 1 room" and see what that search returns / I'm sure you'll see a number of different options and you can use the same concepts in my video and adapt them to different layouts. I used zinc #6 drywall screws and eyeballed the joints where they were used. Typical lengths I used.... 2x4 to 2x4: 3" 2X4 to 1XX: 1 5/8", almost always driving from the 1X side 1X to 1X: almost always 1 5/8" - but - if there was any risk of poke though, 1 1/4" Carriage bolts: 5/16" - 1/4" should be find but the head size is almost the same between the two so I went larger. CLAMP EVERYTHING AND USE WOODGLUE TOO!!!!!!!!! I also drilled pilot holes if there were knots nearby/etc (better safe then sorry) / Thanks for the comment!

Just thought it would be beneficial to the long term health of the mattress and by extension, your wallet, to consider replacing with slats instead of solid chip board :)
