Not many people would even be bothered to try to get a 44 year old, locked-up severely clapped-out Race Bike running again, so kudos to you for that. And now that it runs (at all) increases it's value quite a bit, even in it's present condition. That said, you MIGHT wanna clean up those Reeds a little bit, unless you did do that and just didn't include it in your video...man these old Dirtbikes bring back a lot of good memories for me...

There's a group up in New England that races a 1988 or 89 CR500 on the local Pro Circuit in that area against all the new KTM's and Honda's and such, and they do pretty respectably on it, considering it's a 33 year old 2 stroke. I like 'em because there's MUCH less in moving parts on a 2 stroke than you'd ever have to worry about with a 4 stroke engine, and besides, the smell of 2 stroke exhaust is intoxicating to me...LOVES me a 2 stroke!

What you do is use a small bungee cord and hook it to the crank on one end and the frame right above the rod on the other end so when your spinning the crank your not slamming the rod around and banging up the cases of course if your not trying to record you just hold it with your hand

A couple things to save you. If you stand on the pegs and kick it over it will be much easier than using your right leg on one side. I didn't see you put a base gasket on the cylinder and that will also affect how well it runs. Great job on the bike! Love that style of RM!

When I was a kid I seen these bikes in action and on the showroom floor. The rm125 had a price tag of $1125. That was alot of money back then. Esp for a bike that had a sticker on it said in bold letters No Warranty!! The rm250 was around $1500 sometimes less. They sold way more 125s. The 250 was scary. Crazy fast. Grown men was afraid of them. The rm370 was a monster.

Had an RM 80 as kid for a while before the CR 125, loved that loud little bastard. My mom did to she could hear me down the road at our ohv area. If she didn't she'd freak and go check on me. Great memories of that little monster. That bike your working I had one in my about a month, guy had me go through it, it was 78. Took time to get parts found.

Nice! This one deserves a deep cleaning, sand blast and repaint the frame and engine. I would prob split the cases and do a deep clean and new bearings/seals if it was mine. I’m sure a AHRMA vintage racer would give you $1200 cleaned up and running.
