Thanks for the upload. I think you might be making same mistake i used to make a few years ago but your gear shift selection looks same as mine and i used to assume it was a 3 speed,but D with circle around it is Overdrive, Next you got 3rd And then 1st. Now if you look in your owner's manual You will see that they call that a 4 speed transmission. Overdrive Is essentially 4th gear But you can't Select 2nd gear manually

My neon only had P R N D 2 1. I end up getting a benzyl replacement from a newer neon SXT that actually had the four speed

@@StansAuto83 Any tip for a Dodge Neon with good battery, alternator, starter .... Will jump off but goes dead when cables are disconneced. That's usually an alt issue but the alt tests good. Thanks for all you info.

I did the process as you showed .... no codes showed up ... and just showed "DONE". Had to hook booster to battery to just get power. When I disconnect the booster ... no power. I would think that it's a battery issue but the battery shows 12+ volts and is less than a year old. Thanks for any responses and/suggestions.

Try starting it and see if the volts drop below 12-10 volts if so the battery is bad.

Well there’s not much that you can do without a volt meter if you have one the battery should be above 11 volts.

It probably a bad battery it probably lost is power to turn the car over. But if you lived in my area I would help.

I tríes doing this on mine, and it show two codes got those check and. Theyre gone. But I had another light come on. I tried checking for codes and it wont give me any. Any ideas or advice

I would disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative cables to together for 30sec the put them back on. And drive normal and see if the light comes back.

i have a 2005 dodge neon SXT and the only thing i know that needs to be fixed is the motor mounts. it vibrates but nothing too bad. everything runs very well i already put $700 a bit more into this car. changed the two back tires . new oil change. new thermostat... new steering pump.. new pulley and new belt. (the belt broke on me while i was driving then found out the pulley was bad)

Sounds like you have a nice Neon there! Keep up the work! And it will last you! But don’t forget the most left out.... the transmission filter. If you don’t know when it was changed I get that done. Just the filter and fluid lost from the pain drop which is about 4qts of ATF +4. And other questions you can email me at [e-mail]

Dodge Neon Racing & Stan’ Auto Repair thank you, we already dropped the tank like 3 times to get a good deal on it with silicone because the cap on the gas tank itself was broken but he light still wouldn’t go off after it was reset so I will look into this further, as for the battery issue the battery was dead so I disconnected it like a year ago and recharged it and it works fine now but the car is just a dust collector since it is so old and isn’t insured, hoping to try and fix this and sell it cause I’ve been going place to place and they mis diagnose

Ya I understand that big time how long has it been sitting? Sometimes the little battery in the TCM can go out after sitting for years. That’s the issue with the neon I was working on it’s been sitting for like 16years.

You need to make the car relearn its idle after the battery dies or got disconnected. Do so by driving at highway speeds and let off the gas and wait for about 7 seconds

Hey....Update.....I did as you/my mechanic recommended.....remove the negative connection from the battery/5 minutes...and it cleared the code /engine light.....now, he suggested that I drive the car for 2/3 days to see it the light comes back. So, question...if the codes clears...ie....isn't a hard code.......is that better news for me? Thanks.....

Yes it is better. For if the code is a hard code it will come back right away as soon as the car starts. If it comes and goes a part within the system is going bad or the plug is dirty or a wire was damaged. A code just gives one an area to look. As in I had a code for a faltering fuel injector. Turns out it was the coil pack and the injector was not set in so fuel was leaking out due to a small rip in the o’ring.

My Check Engine light came on. Then went back off. Car runs fine. I pulled 2 codes. P0440 P1684

1684 is battery was disconnected and P0440 code is that the engine control module has detected a leak in the fuel tank vapor system. Which could be a bad hose for the vapour canister or also the gas cap Could not of been put all the way on. To figure out of the leak for that you would need to hook up a smoke machine and find out where the smoke is coming out of.

It should it works on almost all dodge’s from 2000 up. There could be an issue with your cluster or ignition. But mostly if one don’t get it just right it won’t work. I thinking of making a new video on this subject.
