2001 toyota avalon needs the passenger bearing done. Perfect timing i already ordered the part from rock auto. Top bottom play is bearing not ball joint right? I had the ball joint replaced and it's still rattling pretty bad.

Hi Billy, Most likely, it is the bearing, but you can lift it and take off the wheel and wiggle it to know for sure. Best of luck to you! I did the passenger side on this car about two or 3 years ago and I guess I should’ve done this one too back then.

So in order to “rent the tool” I should buy it and return it?

They usually have you put down a deposit close to the amount of the tool, and they fully refund it when you return the tool.

At 16:45, that looks more like Loctite than anti-seize. You also mention that its purpose is to prevent the caliper bolts from backing off.

You are correct, it was thread locker, I was probably pretty tired and said it wrong…

Go to to pick n pull, find an assembly that's tight...and just swap the whole assembly...$50. some cars in the yard had new bearings installed before it "died". Remember Sienna and Avalon have the same part 😉 save yourself a lot of time and effort

does most cars like honda same idea?

Yes, but the Honda bearings are sometimes magnetic on one side so you need to make sure it’s installed with the correct side of the bearing. Similar process though… Take care, -Dan

The part when you remove the bearing needs to slow down a hair just to make sure I have everything in the correct position and order. When you say, “ I’ve got it all set up” goes by too fast for my old brain. Also, I’m struggling getting the bearing to go in straight. I’ll try again.

If you’re referring to the axle nut, it’s 30mm. Sorry I didn’t mention that in the video. Thx

Damn the processes was much simpler on my cobalt, just remove axle nut and caliper and hammer the shit out of the wheel hub since the bearing is already in it just swap part and boom good to go

Nope...But it wasn't too bad. Just not the kind of thing you want to do in a parking lot if you can avoid it...

Can you buy a whole new self-contained unit and not reuse the hub
